“Good value hotel.”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

This was our 2nd visit to the President hotel and it was just as good as the 1st time.

Room - cleaned to a good standard everyday.
Food - always a good variety.
Staff - friendly and helpful.
Drinks - reasonably priced.
Entertainment - in the evenings but I cannot comment on how good it was, hotel entertainment is not my thing sorry.

We upgraded to a pool view room for 10 euro per night which I would do again for a good nights sleep - a few clubs nearby so the rooms on the front of the hotel and on the side street would get a lot of noise after midnight into the early hours!

Overall a good value hotel.

We enjoyed our trip to Calella and the President so much that we have booked to return in a couple of weeks.

If you are looking for a good restaurant try Luna Gaucha it's fantastic!!

Room Tip: Email the hotel before you travel and upgrade to a pool view room for 10 euro per night.

We stayed at this hotel in late May early June this year. It is a lovely hotel and the staff are very friendly and efficient. There are two pools, and a kiddies pool. the pool attendant is excellent ensuring that adults are not disturbed by splashing kids as he usually insists that all children stay in one pool. Food is buffet style and is excellent. Everywhere in the hotel and the pool area is kept very clean at all times. I would highly recommend this hotel. The beach is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel but is very stoney and wasnt really suitable for young children as the tide even when out got very deep very quickly. Nice guy on beach with paddle boats for €13 per hour. The little town of Calella is nice, with small streets and a little shops to potter around in. Plenty of nice restaurants. It is the perfect place for a family holiday, but definately not for young adults out for nightclubs and bars.

This hotel is basic but clean. The rooms were small and the decor was dated. The pool area was better, but the main hotel needs an upgrade- the dining area is cramped and food predictable. Most guests were Spanish aged 60+. The worst part of the hotel was the location- right opposite some noisy clubs and surrounded by other hgh rise blocks- not relaxing at all. This was good for our hen do so if you want somewhere cheap and cheerful right in the centre of the nightlife this place is good- but not if you will spend a lot of time in and around the hotel.

I stumbled across the hotel as a few days before my holiday my tour operator went into liquidation. We had our flights and transfers to calella booked so we just looked around trip advisor for a good hotel and called the hotel president the day before we flew.
They were able to accommodate us for 7 nights arriving the next day. I look back now at that event as such a blessing as we would have never discovered this delightful hotel had it not been for the tour operator going into liquidation!!! I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff cared so much about their hotel. The cleaning regime was like a military operation, I never saw anything untidy or dirty. The pool area was cleaned all day every day. I even witnessed them cleaning the leaves of the outside plants to freshen up the entrance apperance! Rooms were cleaned each day and I really felt like the staff cared about their job. The staff throughout the hotel spoke excellent English although they catered for many different nationalities also. When I go on holiday, there are 3 things important to me, the cleanliness, the food and the service. All three of these things were exceptional at this hotel. The food was freshly prepared each service and served as a buffet. There was a number of different options catering for a variety of tastes. I was really impressed with the quality of the food, they never re-heated anything as is sometime the case with buffets. I have returned to the hotel again since this experience here and my second experience was actually better than the first. The entertainment is varied and staff helpful. I am just about to book again for this year. The perfect place for a great holiday

To say anything negative about the President Hotel would be nit picking. Perhaps the ancient furniture in the rooms and lack of hooks in the bathrooms maybe.....
The approach roads to the hotel may give you a bad impression as its narrow and next to a graffitti covered open storm sewer. But the hotel itself is superb. The common areas and rooms are clean and spacious. The bathrooms are large and all rooms have a balcony with excellent double glazed doors and blackout curtains.
There are 3 pools with amusingly cold water, which is fine once your in.The top pool, although an odd shape is the best for swimming. If you sunbathe around this pool, beware the nasty little flies that can give you a wicked bite that will itch like crazy.
The crowning glory of this hotel is the food. Every meal is an all you can eat buffet. The variety and quality of the food is what you would expect to find at a 4 or 5 star hotel. The prices of drinks are reasonable for meals and at the bar. All staff are friendly and the receptionists speak good English.
I would recommend you get a room at the back, overlooking the pool on at least the 5th floor, as those rooms get the sun in the evening.
There was entertainment provided must nights. The TV in your room received 3 English speaking channels, CNN, Eurosport and ITV 3.
