The positives of the hotel: located smack on the beach, nice pool, good food at the restaurant buffet, very service minded personell, soundproof rooms, kid-friendly and working aircon. The drawbacks: the decor is utterly soul-less, too many guests in small pool area, campy entertainment, long queues at the reception, pricey.

The hotel is in a great location, right on the beach. We had a seaview room, and were relieved we'd chosen them as the rooms to the rear overlook the road and the car park. Upsides were the pool, the breakfast and dinner buffets (fair quality and wide variety), location and friendly staff.

Negatives were that there were insufficient sun beds (competition was fierce), gym is too small (one running machine), they charged for Wifi (15 Eur per room per week), charge for safe, and if you don't want to hear the music, which is every night until 12.00, then pick a rear road view room. Also the wifi is free in reception, but it's painfully slow! It's actually quite an expensive hotel. At more reasonable prices we would have scored it a 4.

We had a great time here, having picked it very carefully. Food is amazing and so varied, hotel recently refurbished and stylish, staff all very helpful. Quiet part of town, but right on brilliant beach so perfect for our little family. Pool is great too, though sunbeds fill up quickly. Nice mix of Spanish, Russian, French, German and British. Not a "Brits Abroad" hotel at all, we loved it.

Me and my boyfriend (19 and 20) stayed here for a week in the middle of June. We were looking for somewhere peaceful and relaxing and definitely found it! The hotel itself was immaculate, honestly faultless. We had a standard double room but it was just what you would hope for, very spacious and modern, white interior so you can easily tell that it is kept clean; the bathroom likewise with a very powerful shower which is always a good thing. Hair dryer also in the bathroom. The rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels every day too. The air con was fab and kept the room nice and cool, we found leaving one of the keys in the slot and keeping one of them with us worked well when returning from a day in the sun. Room was complete with a small fridge which came in handy for keeping some bottles in bought from one of the several local shops which neighbour the hotel. Breakfast was between 7:30 and 10:30 which means you can catch a bite before a planned day ahead or have a later one if you sleep in! Breakfast (like all the meals Estival serves) catered for everyone, the selection was faultless. The pool area was mopped and tidied every morning and the little hut that sells drinks and ice lollies opens around 11am however you can get drinks and food from the inside bar area before 11am. The hotel is literally right on the beach, you can leave your towel on your sunbed by the pool run over on to the beach for a while then pop back to your sunbed when you've had enough of the sand. The inside and outside bar area sells a small selection of lunchtime meals, we went half board but bought something from here most lunchtimes: burgers, hotdogs, toasties, pizzas, chips... Price wise it was rather reasonable, although fries were 4euros but you got a whole plate full and things such as a burger or hotdog were around 5/6 euros. Again in terms of drinks it was nothing extortinate and I found you seem to get a very large measure in comparison to how sparse they are when pouring a vodka in England. For a pint of larger and vodka & orange it was just over 7 euros. For those of you who are interested in a day out to Barcelona, there is a coach trip shop over the road from the hotel which informs you of the deals they do (Cambrils to Barcelona was 20 euros which I considered an impressive price) As for Cambrils, the walk from the hotel into the actual town was quite a way but manageable. There's nothing major to do in Cambrils but it has a beautiful harbour and beach and some lovely little shops and restaurants. Salou is also only a 15 minute bus ride away. Evening meal was 7:30 - 10pm and again it was perfect. Buffet style and so much choice, I don't think anyone will return home without gaining a pound or two! Finally, the staff at Estival Centurion are superb - especially the waiting staff, I couldn't believe the lengthy shifts they did and I'm sure the whole week I was there I never saw any of them have a day off yet they still turned up smiling and cheerful. Would definitely return back to this hotel. Sorry for the great spiel but hope this is helpful to those of you considering this hotel.

From the moment we checked in, we knew the hotel experience would be good. The staff is amazing...able to speak English, willing to help in all respects, and sincerely good people. The cleaning staff literally greet you from inside other rooms when you walk past - warm and friendly always!
The location is brilliant - cross a bicycle path and you are on a beautiful, pristine beach. Little supermarkets across the road make it possible to buy water, milk, bread or fresh fruit, etc (whatever you may feel like).
If you enjoy walking (or an easy cycle) it's about 20 minutes' walk to the port of Cambrils. Here there is a plethora of restaurants on offer - all tastes and pockets are catered for. (Although the hotel offers food 24 hours a day, and there are closer restaurants - we just enjoyed the "vibe" and the walk to the Port) The same sort of walk in the opposite direction gets you to Salou. Shopping is great at the Port too.

Really - this town is amazing, and the hotel is fabulous. Activities go on for the children all day and night - it's a children's' paradise :) We loved seeing them sing and dance, etc. if you are not joiners (we aren't) that's fine too. Both options exist!

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be similar. I've read that it can be noisy, but we didn't experience this...

Just got back from a 10 night Thompson half board package holiday staying here and on the whole it was a great experience. Check in was simple, although the room was not quite ready when we arrived but we didn't mind as we sat and chilled by the pool with a few reasonably priced beers.
The room was clean and modern with a partial sea view and ample balcony to watch it from. The maid service was excellent, fresh towels and linen daily. The food was a bit sameish, but after a week that was to be expected. The evening entertainment could have been better as it mostly catered for the very young or the old but it did add atmosphere on the evenings.
The hotel location is great, right on the beach between Cambrils(really nice) and Salou(Blackpool) both roughly 40mins walk away along the beach or you can hire bikes from the hotel and wizz along the cycle paths following the beach....this i recommend
All the hotel staff we came into contact with were friendly and efficient and on the whole we found this hotel to be quite cool and relaxing.
I would definitely recommend this package deal with Thompson as combined with their day visits to Montserrat etc (not included in the price) made it a really nice holiday, a special mention to Aaron the Thompson rep who couldn't have been more helpful....cheers
A word of warning....watch out for the peddlers roaming the beach especially near Salou...they can be rather persistent !

Room Tip: try and get a low level partial sea view room

We didn't have reservations, so we found a beach hotel with a high rating in Trip Advisor. From the outside, the Estival Centurion Playa looks like a beach-town Holiday Inn. Inside we found a large lobby and a professional English-speaking staff willing to take us in and give us one of their best rooms overlooking the beach. It sounded perfect, and in many respects it was just fine. It was a small-ish room, but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was Scandanavian modern, and the balcony was large enough to sit on and enjoy the beach traffic. We parked our car in their private lot to avoid the early-morning meter maids. The beach outside doesn't provide much room, so get used to rubbing elbows. The water, for June, seemed cold, so we headed to the pool. We were immediately kicked out, however -- it was closing time (8pm! when darkness comes at 10pm). Okay, then well walk around and find a restaurant. One downside to the location, we learned, is that there are no decent restaurants nearby -- we had to drive around to find anything worthwhile. In the morning, we helped ourselves to the breakfast spread that, frankly, seemed like what one would expect from an all-inclusive (over the top in selection but nothing really that tasty). We heard a lot of Scandanavian dialects, so that and the room decoration made us think all-inclusive for northern Europeans. A constant theme from this hotel was we were nickle-and-dimed for everything: pay for parking, a deposit for the towels, 5 euros for internet connection, 5 euros to use the safe. Our one-night stay with breakfast was 173 euros ($245) - a bit steep for a "Holiday Inn" - type hotel, even if it has a beach.
