“Nice cheap and chrerfull hotel in perfect location”

First impressions are the building could do with a lick of paint but once inside it has a nice reception and bar area, friendly reception lady went through all the basics of having to pay tourist tax (think this was 7€ for the family for the duration of the stay) 50€ deposit which was fine as I wasnt planning on wreaking the place so knew I would get it back (this can also be paid in £ to save you being stuck with 50€ at the end of your holiday) and 10€ for the a.c remote all of which I know about after reading previous reviews.
We booked a 2 bedroom room which was very spacious, clean and adequately supplied with pots pans and plates, beds were comfy enough my only bug bear was a random noise coming from the a.c unit but it was situated in the hall way so didnt keep us awake.
We had room 416 faces the beach and has sun in the afternoon.
We booked half board breakfast was nice but continental so the usual toast, cereal, pastries t and coffee, ham, cheese and jam but was fresh and tasty.
Evening meal you was given a choice of 3 starters, mains and desert, the menu had some strange concoctions but always managed to find something even with 2 fussy children to feed. The russian waiter in the evening was always very friendly as was the very nice gentleman who sorted breakfast in the mornings.
Friends who were staying with us had a few problems with the lock to their room and a light that was out, all seen to quickly and without fuss.
As the beach is so close the pool is very quiet with loads of sun loungers to choose from.
excellant location, quiet area, entertainment in hotel finishes at midnight so was never kept up too late with the noise, entertainment was mainly singers or tribute acts.
I woukd recommend hiring a bike from accross the road (not the hotel) and visiting cambrils as its a lovely beach, there is a cycle path from cambrils to salou along the promanade it cost us 18€ for a family of 4 for 4 hours bargain!
You will love this hotel if you are looking for cheap basic friendly accommodation you will hate it if you are looking for 5 star.
We had a brilliant time and would return again no problem.
would also look at booking a private transfer from england before travelling we paid £60 return, hotel quotes 95€ each way and the bus is 12€ each but you are one of the last drop offs and takes well over an hour. Bus to salou is 1.65£ each way.

No regrets. Stayed in August 2013 for 2 weeks in room 207 facing nice olive tree and palm tree. Yes, there is a railway line but who cares as most of the day we were at beach that is 50 meters away and eves we spent in Cambrils, Salou or at Esmeralda's bar terrace enjoying nice entertaiment.
Apartment is a bit dated, but again, you are there for week or two, not for life.
When we arrived it was all clean. Maintenance ladies changed our sheets 3 times, towels 4 times during our stay and all we had to do is asked them.
All of the staff, reception, bar, maintenance is really nice and polite.
We will be coming back.

We booked this trip as a last minute holiday as a couple with 4 'children' ranging from 11 to 22. I must admit I was a bit worried by some of the reviews but was so pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The hotel is definitely cheap and cheerful but the apartments are clean, air conditioned and have a very unusual kitchen area inside a wardrobe door, straight from the 1970s, really quaint but had everything you need for a holiday in the sun.

The bar was well stocked and friendly, the teenagers loved the burgers and the cocktails were fab too. The pool is small but fine for this size of place. The staff are lovely and the entertainment was good fun, very cheesy but in a good way.

The location is second to none, right across the road from the huge beach which is beautifully maintained, warm sea we stayed there most evenings til 7pm swimming and playing in the sea. The supermarket 2 minutes along the road had fresh bread baked every morning and plenty of selection for basic meals. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance and lots of choice in Cambrils which is a bus ride away or a half hour walk.

All in all this was an unexpectedly great holiday and we all had a fantastic time, I would recommend it and would definitely go back again. If you are looking for 5 star luxury this is not the place for you but if you want a cheap, friendly place in a great location then choose this.

Since I was 7 ( now 20 )we have stayed here every time we have visited Spain since it change to sunset from thomsons ( I think) it was hard to find and book.
The staff are fantastic! Really nice keep the bar open after hours to have a chat. Great entertainment and great for children as the pool is not massive and easy viewing from the bar . Its location is quiet and opposite the beach and a shop is pretty much next door for all food and water also alot of gift shops definitely visot the muddy duck !! Classic pub grub about a 2/3 minute walk away .. a short walk into cambrills and salou center a very nice walk up to port aventura. Room are very basic good if you dont plan to spend much time in the room .. the atmosphere is the best part of the hotel. They make you feel very welcome and you leave feeling youve made friends

This was a last minute decision and while 2012 reviews were OK we looked at this year 2013 and they had improved. The apartments lie on a strip between Salou (busy and packed) and Cambrils (with the Yacht basin = expensive). We booked through Thomas Cook as we didn't want the hassle of finding our own way to and from the airport (20min by coach).

The apartment was clean and the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and had free air-conditioning which was a bonus as it got up to 33 degs. (£10 deposit for remote & £50 on arrival for breakages etc.) There is a small pool and loungers, a bar and lounge with TV and entertainment in the evenings. They also have free WiFI and games for the kids (Pool tables etc.) We did not eat at the hotel but there was a small dining area. The beach was across the road and was the best place for my wife and I who do not like lying in the sun all day, but prefer to walk along the beach. There were several places where you could hire loungers and sit under shade. There is a foot path/cycle track that runs from Salou (15 min.) to Cambrils (45min.) slow walk from the apartment. There is a supermarket close by and several typical Irish/English style pubs serving English and Spanish fare but we wanted some genuine Catalan food and were not disappointed by two placed we found close by. If you are looking for the night life an busy holiday resort then this is not for you but if you are looking for somewhere quite that won't cost and arm and a leg then I can highly recommend The Esmeralda Apts.

Room Tip: We were first floor on the right side when facing the sea. The room was above the bar put only had a...

Friendly staff. Small rooms but fine for a couple who wanted somewhere to sleep, shower & have breakfast. Good location, really close to the beach, bus stops, supermarket and pubs that serve food. The pool area was nice & clean. Room was only cleaned once in the week but we spent very little time in it. For the price we paid I found it fine and would return.

This hotel is very basic, you even get charged for use of a toaster and we had buy our own matches for lighting the gas hob, no tv/radio in the rooms & the bedding is only changed weekly & towels every 4 days unless you pay extra, the hotel was also very noisey with doors slamming & furniture being moved about throughout the night. we never ate at the hotel but there menu appeared basic and averagely priced. The location of the hotel is ok for physically fit people as its a hours walk away to salou or old cambrills which are both bigger & more lively towns, there are bus stops close to the hotel but the buses are quite expensive. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and very helpful which made the bad points tolerable. We can not praise the staff enough as if it were ntt for them the hotel would be terrible.
