This is a friendly, small, well managed, clean site where we really enjoyed a week in one of the bungalow/cabins with our children, aged 8 and 10. The bungalow was very small, but fairly well equipped and spotlessly clean. Plot sizes looked small but I realized that part of the appeal of camping is watching the world go by! The kids were a little hindered in making friends as surprisingly 90% of visitors during August were Dutch, with the downside that we heard more Dutch than Spanish (even the kids' entertainment!), but everyone was very friendly and the site was quiet at night.
A road divides the site but it is quiet and for slightly older children they would be fine to cross it. The pool was really pretty, set against the cliftops and surrounded by grass and palm trees, with reassuringly attentive lifeguards. The rocky beach was not really accessible to sunbathe but popular for snorkelling. There was a fantastic low key restaurant/bar at the back where we enjoyed plates of calamares overlooking the beautiful view!
We enjoyed a couple of evenings at the main entertainment bar area. There were no extras to pay for.
The other beach (Cala Montgo) was only a 5 minute walk away and really beautiful, with bars and restaurants and a couple of shops at the back of the beach. Although L'Escala seemed a bit faded to us, we realized we had everything we needed at Cala Montgo, including two supermarkets - and so it was also great being able to ditch the car. We would definitely return.
