We booked this hotel for a week in late May. When we got there in the evening, the receptionist, an old grumpy man, served us tired guests as slowly as he possibly could with a face of an elephants butt, sorry to be honest but he looked like he couldn't care less and didn't even bother to say hello properly. Finally when we got to our room we thought it was quite OK even though the room temperature was about + 12 celcius and it was freezing in there, we looked down from our balcony and the pool looked decent. The following night was horrible, it was so cold in the room that even the 3 nasty smelling extra blankets we found from the closet didnt warm us enough. And we guys are from Finland so believe me when I say it was so damn COLD in there. Next afternoon we were starving and decided to look around for a some place to eat breakfast - found out that there were none in the near area (1-2 km) except some shabby looking british pub. Absolutely all the places were closed; restaurants, shops, supermarkets... In the evening we came back from the little town next by Blanes and again starving. We didn't have choices were to eat, again, so we were forced to eat in the hotel's restaurant. Omg if I only could forget that experience. Don't have to even mention that the food was crappy. Although some people seemed to enjoy their meals but honestly, I would never pay for a food like that ever in my life again. The next morning, again starving and frozen we decided to go to hotel's computers and booked a hotel in Barcelona for 5 days which was the best decicion ever, to leave Blanes and go there. When we came back from there we normally asked our key from the reception (again the same old grumpy man), the man got all confused and started mumbling something about it can't be our room number. We confirmed it was and asked again for our room key. Suddenly the man walked outside, looked to our room balcony and said, "look, there is light on, somebody is living there" and continued, "there is a gay couple living in your room". And we were like WHHAAATT???! We got furious 'cause we had left almost all of our stuff there when we took that 5-day trip to Barcelona and thought of course like wtf if someones living there, in our room??! Then the man gave the room key into my hand and said, "You go check it". It was a weird situation there. Well, then we went to our room and luckily there were nobody living there. I don't know what on earth had that grumpy receptionist sucked into his nose but the situation with him was beyond-words-weird, and he seriously looked so nuts when all the mumbling began that I wouldn't wonder if he had been smoking something stronger than plain cigarettes. :D But of course the situation wasn't funny at all in our perspective. And we don't know if there had been living other people in our room on some point during the five days we were exploring Barcelona. The cleaner didn't clean our room even once during the week (even though we were there only couple of days but the booking was for a whole week) and the day we were checking out, it came out that the guests must clean themselves the room. Some guy from the reception checked our room and said we must take the garbage bags to the main garbage outside the hotel ourselves! Can you believe that.. I don't want to sound too harsh, but I really suggest to go somewhere else for a holiday, for example in Barcelona, we enjoyed time there but absolutely hated Blanes and Europa hotel. I don't know what for every place in Blanes were closed every day, is it the season that begins there later than in other parts of Spain or what.. And we didn't see a bright warm sunny day not once in Blanes, but at the same time in Barcelona were amazingly hot weather.

Recently stayed at the Europa apartments for 1 week. The apartment itself was basic but clean. The kitchen could have been better equipped eg a toaster but otherwise functional. On arrival the fridge was not working properly but thanks to the young Scottish girl in reception, was attended to immediately. Pool and area surrounding area very nice, only fault no umbrellas. There are a few supermarkets nearby for necessities. The Shamrock pub close by worth a visit. Nice food and the sangria is well worth trying. Spike the manager is lovely. The Texas steakhouse on the sea front is a must. Try their ribs, so much meat on them. K D's nearby serves a nice breakfast. Richard who works there is lovely. Would have no hesitation in returning here again. Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday.

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the pool area.

after reading all the bad reviews,i can personally say the hotel is off high standard nothing wrong at all perfectly situated close to the beach (5 minute walk) and local bus station pool was always kept clean and tidy (cleaned regularly),staff very polite as well as restaurant staff, towels swapped throughout our stay. Irish bar done lush pie and were very polite with a little night entertainment. easy cheap travel to lloret de mar excellent tours to botanical gardens available. K.D's was friendly and a really nice breakfast was served as a young couple we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would vist again. :)

Booked Europa Apartments as a last minute holiday and we had a great time. The reception on arrival was good and polite. Our room was good, just what we needed and looked out over the swimming pool, which was kept very clean. Room was very clean. We had a change to our towels half way through our stay.
The only down side to our holiday was that there were some loud youngsters in the building but it wasn't every night and the sun and heat made up for it.
We did a day trip to Barcelona which was easy and very cheap. The bus station is just across the road from the apartments, where you can get a bus to the train station, combined ticket.

Room Tip: A room looking over the swimming pool would be best. Some of the rooms look out over a building tha...

Our first experience of Blanes was being dropped off at the bus station and being told by the grumpy Spanish bus driver our hotel was down there, 50 metres on the right and he tried to pull out with our luggage still on board. We then proceeded to check in which wasn't a hassle apart from them wanting 50 euros... The room was big and clean enough and the walls covered in woodchip. KD's is worth going to for your breakfast but it was rather expensive. There's a supermarket next door with a canny cockney chap by the name of Ricky who told us about the Shamrock bar which became our watering hole for the week. Spike runs the bar of an evening and makes you more than welcome in to his bar. Then after 3 days we sampled the breakfast in the shamrock and it's much better value for money than KD's, and tastier!!!
The hotel staff couldn't help us with our pick up times for departing but I suppose that's not surprising....
An in all we met some excellent people who made the holiday, we will definitely be returning to Blanes but not so sure about stopping in the Europa.

this was our 2nd stay at these apartments cheap and cheerful did prefer our room last time over looking the pool but you get what you pay for the transfers from airport to apartments was a nightmare as they are going past blanes to malgrat and santa susanna to come back which meant on our return we were on coach over 2 hours before we arrived at the airport other than that we had an enjoyable stay visiting friends at the texas steak house and the bull bar

Room Tip: we stayed in d block this time over looking the road

My friend and i have just arrived back from the Europa, the resorthopper transfers were a nightmare,we had to wait over an hour, then was told by the rather rude driver that we had to load our own luggage in the luggage compartment, regardless of age ,dissability,or in what order you were getting dropped off .
By the time we arrived at our appartment it was 1.30 in the morning, and after a 2 hour nightmare transfer couldnt even buy a bottle of water as the vending machine didnt stock it so couldnt even have a drink of tea after traveling 5 odd hours.
The rooms are spacious, but to be honest that, and the big balconys are the only thing going for them.
The room stank of some sort of cabbage sewer smell, but we were wary of leaving the balcony open as they are pretty close together.
I found the staff to be a bit rude,or maybe just not interested ,who knows, the youngish Spanish man was probably the best of the bunch, with the Scotish lady being particularly unhelpfull, maybe it is time for her to move on,because everything you asked seemed to be a chore for her to answer .
The real problem came in the early hours, with loads of young people shouting as loud as they can and running and banging on doors,we actually had someone playing football in the corridor outside our room at godknows what time.
Blanes itsself is not bad, luckily we got the weather, though the beach is horrendous to walk on,as it is made of some sort of shingle. There are a few british bars, the bull is really nice and does a lovely sunday dinner.
We actually ended up in some of the nicer hotels in the evening as there was nothing at all on at the Europa, and frankly i couldnt believe the difference, even though the had the same 3 star rating,so much nicer.
On our last morning we had mites crawling on our cooker, god knows what they were,we just handed the keys in and got our deposit back, even if we could have kept the room on i couldnt have gone back in with those creepy crawlys.
If i ever go to Costa Brava again i would head to either Llorett or Santa Susanna, which are both cleaner looking and livelier.but dont think i would head to Blanes again, and certainly not the Europa, after seeing what other 3 star places were like
