“Excellent facilities and great location”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

First time at this site and have to say we thought it was excellent. Reception staff very friendly and helpful as were the reps for Canvas Holidays (Davydd, Anne Marie and Alex) and all other on-site staff we encountered. Stayed in an air conditioned mobile unit with two en-suite bedrooms and all the necessary elements you would expect for a self-catering holiday. Having said that, we ate out every night - 3 times at the excellent on-site restaurant with their brilliant staff. Great bakery (attached to the on-site supermarket) for early morning treats (straight from the oven) and despite other reviews we only queued for 5 minutes maximum. Wide range of facilities on site and if you go in July/August expect it to be busy (well it is the school holidays after all). Lovely beaches nearby and some lovely small hill towns ( Pals and Begur) closeby. Flew to Girona airport which is about 45 mins drive to the site. Great family holiday destination.

I have to say facilities are great with addition of bowling alley a masterstroke (esp with the rain this yr). The restaurant after a couple of indifferent years is back on form with great staff (including the bird whistling waiter who made our two visits to restaurant a delight - esp my daughter who was kept entertained).
There is one huge drawback however in that when site is busy it feels a little over crowded in the facilites there are (leisure/bakery/wifi). For example pool is extremely overcrowded at all times and queue for bakery in morning is a minimum of 15 mins. The site I feel needs another pool (one where teenagers can bomb to their hearts content without bothering families and adults). An offer was made to the campsite manager to do deliveries of bread but this was declined however I feel this is down to the manager not wanting to accept new ideas. I feel a delivery service for takeaway/groceries etc would be a great option considering size of site.
There is also the issue of wifi bandwidth which is at best on a par with dial up internet from the 90's. Again campsite managers was informed of poor bandwidth and apparently movistar where going to visit on 28th july to increase bandwidth however no difference was noted. The connection issue of previous years was resolved but now bandwidth is the issue.

Having been to Cypsela 3 times over the last 4 years what happened?

It was always loud but this time was the most disappointing vacation venue ever...

No choice of pitch but we sighted numerous people checking out pitches and changing them? informed by other campers this was because we are not Dutch? Very rude staff and poor management. Terrible toilets, we took a private bathroom option however were placed as far away as possible so asked for a refund? The showers rooms flooded and were not cleaned on one occasion for 2 days? Why cant people use the brush on the toilet you were lucky only seeing brown tracks on entering - sometimes it was the whole paper and poop......

The pitch given didn't fit our caravan so we had it at 45 degrees luckily this helped when we had flash flooding as not to much mud entered the awning area. This was annoying as the previous year we were told by other campers the same area was flooded? No warning was given by management and no preventative measures are in place and we have 3 children. Not very good.

The Noise - The water sanitation system - noise every hour all day and night this was disturbing however the bin man coming at 0730 in a diesel truck and sitting outside of the pitch area every morning was the best. Then they bring a hand cart [Silent] in the afternoon?

Never ever again - luckily i was called back to work early thank god !

Room Tip: Don't visit ever...

Finally getting round to reviewing this wonderful campsite after staying there for a fortnight in mid June. To be honest I could cut it short and copy and paste the previous reviewer's (Fiona G) views but I'll add my own. This was our 5th (but 4th consecutive) visit to Cypsela and it really has started to improve big time. The reception area (and some staff are the same) but outside that there are many improvements.

The Bowling Bar (of which I was initially sceptical) is a masterstroke. It's a younger person's hangout so our 17 year old and his new buddies hung out there without fear of us cramping his style. He also complimented the bar staff there.

We used the other bar. It's quieter but with the World Cup on the outside mounted TVs and some reasonably decent middle of the road music playing in the background we were happy. Try the cuttlefish at this bar-processed but very edible. They've also re-introduced the cushions to the seats here, a welcome addition and only one step short of re-introducing the biscuit with the café con leche (Sandaya take note!). We also ate here one night so we could watch a match and it was ok... Nice to see the ice cream kiosk open long hours in June. OK, they weren't doing a whole pile of business but it gave out a message that Cypsela was open for business again.

The restaurant is open more or less full time in June and the old staff have returned to the site. We had the skewer we last had in 2008 the night we ate there and it was terrific. It's €13.95 but that includes fries and 4 types of meat but it really was fantastic.

The pool area took delivery of a heap of new sun loungers while we were there so there was never a shortage and the inflatables in the pool for the festival of San Juan were very impressive for young and old alike.

The onsite supermarket is very well stocked as always but please note there are now a lot of price discrepancies between this branch and the one in Els Massos. It's10-20c here and there but if you have hire car it's worth the trip off site to the other shop as there are savings to be made.

The site owned Colors Mobile Homes look terrific. We got a quick tour inside them and they are top notch. They are laid out in a communal area rather than the usual row of mobile after mobile. The same goes for the new site owned glamping tents. Also took a snoop in these and they are also impressive. Both had special 25% off offers in June this year.

The toilet blocks were as clean as ever.

The previously semi-derelict "football pitch" has been transformed into a (top quality) grassed pitch-many an hour spent here with the lads. Also in this area is an enclosed artificial surface tennis court, basketball and boules areas.

This year we stayed for the first time with Kelair and were hugely impressed with the office staff initially but then particularly with the onsite reps, Gareth and Ciara, who were extremely attentive throughout without being in your face. They also took the trouble to get to know (and remember) our names. They do take the €100 housekeeping deposit when you arrive, that all other companies say they will but don't, but this practise is reflected in the condition of the mobile home-impeccable. I must say that when we fell foul of the French Air Traffic Control strike Kelair, but again particularly the reps, were absolutely top notch in coming to our aid.

Offsite we visited Begur-lovely town but maybe one for the old 'uns. Going here revealed Can Padres 2 as it's on the way. Same food as Can Padres but less crowds. Just follow the road to Begur from Els Massos and it's only a couple of hundred metres up on your left. Another couple hundred metres in the same direction there is a forecourt selling particularly cheap fuels.

We also visited Niff Niff down the road from the campsite-purely to eat and watch the soccer at the same time. Prices good, food good, but pizzas a little smaller than other restaurants locally.
As the previous poster said this is one site where a holiday can be enjoyed by people of all ages (as long as they let themselves enjoy it, that is). We plan to return next year and for many years.

I just hope it doesn't get too popular as we're now talking of retiring to the area.....

Cypsela is back up there again. We've been visiting this resort for the past 13 years and have just returned from another great holiday. The campsite management have really listened to customer feedback and have made some great improvements. Things hadn't been so good a couple of years ago but back on track now. The old football pitch has been converted into a new grassed half pitch and mini tennis, table tennis and basketball facilities have been added. The swimming pool, kids pool, slides and surrounding area is good with plenty of sun loungers. The grounds are well kept and toilet, shower areas clean. The best addition is the Bowling bar and the bar staff are top class. With the bowling alley, kids play park outside, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, big screens for the World Cup football and good music, it's a great place for all ages and the whole family can enjoy evenings here. As a parent who used the Cypsy Club and now have shot-drinking, lively and sometimes loud kids, I don't think previous review of this campsite being too noisy is accurate. Security here is excellent and any issues are dealt with properly. That is one of the best features of Cypsela - everyone, no matter what age, can have a good holiday. If you want a quiet spot (without the hassle of hearing other people having a good time), there is plenty of space here. Lots of nice restaurants nearby, especially in peratallada, good beaches, scenery and lots to do, I would highly recommend making Cypsela your base.

I booked directly with the campsite with their new color mobiles which were only installed this year(were stilling finishing them as we arrive!). These mobiles are located in a great location, only a few mins walk from the reception/pool area but not too close. It was also quite private and we did not have any problems with noise.
The mobile came with bed linen and towels which was changed weekly and twice weekly respectively. It was such a treat. It also had a TV which my avid sons and hubbie could watch the world cup and we got to watch movies as well. It came equipped with a toaster and kettle which seems to lack in campsites we have visited so far. Alot of these new mobiles were not occupied but i reckon that is because people are not aware of them yet. There is also plenty of room around the mobile. Note you are not allowed to park at the mobile but this is not a problem as they are located next to the car park. It also made it safer for the kids
The sports facilities were great for my boys. The pitch was nearby and on grass!
The pool was good as well although i think that a slide going into the pool would be better.
There is free bus that brings you to the beach. However we did not get around to using this as we had a car and we did some travelling
This is the first year that I did not get eaten by mossies.
It is a very pretty coast line and we did not get to see as much as I would have liked,
this is the first campsite that I will definitely consider returning to as it seems to get most thinks right.

Room Tip: color mobile homes are in great location, just the right distance to the reception, pool area. also...

About 10 minutes from the beach of Platja de Pals lies this wonderful resort. The Cypsela grounds are well designed, there are a few nice restaurants (I can recommend the churros), a huge swimming pool and a bowling pub. Perfect for families with a GREAT animation team. Cypsy the starfish was the big star of the holiday. Lot of GB, NL and ES visitors. The only minus; the laundrette is quite expensive (7,65 per wash) and is not clean. All in all 5 stars, we would certainly return here!
