“Very charming and comfortable rural house, good food”
Reviewed 11 May 2013 via mobile

We stayed here one night on our Camino. It's a distance away from Sarria, but we had no problem with that as we preferred a peaceful place to stay.

It's a family-owned establishment, and everything, including the cooking, is done by the owners, a nice couple with 2 beautiful little children.

Our room on the ground floor was reasonably large and quiet and comfortable. The home cooked meals were simple but amazingly good. The desserts were especially phenomenal, all home made.

My only complaint, and a very small one, is that they seemed a little stingy with toiletries and heating. A few of us in our group had to request that they turn on the heating as it was extremely cold, and toiletries were not replaced even though we stayed 2 nights, but they were promptly replaced upon request.

Overall, very charming place and I wouldn't mind returning to spend a few more quiet days and enjoy the simple home cooked meals.

We stayed at this property for one night while doing the Camino. I was aware that it was off the Camino but I didn't realize how removed. Javier, the owner picked us up at Sarria late that afternoon, it took close to 20 mins to get to the house.

The place is lovely though. Very tranquil, and pastoral. Rooms and common areas were charming and big. After we cleaned up from the long walk we had that day, we sat outside in their terrace where Javier served us wine and other refreshments . After relaxing in the gardens for a while he called us to dinner. The four of us were the only ones there for dinner. This was one of the best dinners we had in the Camino! There was no choosing but everything was exquisite and reasonable in cost.

Next morning Javier served a delicious breakfast, among other things homemade muffins and jams. Once we finsihed he drove us back to the Camino.

Although I have no reservations in recommending this place , if I was doing the Camino again I would look for a place closer to Sarria as I would have liked to explore the city a bit more.

Room Tip: One of the rooms we had opened to the reception desk and common area. When people were sitting and t...

The owners of this beautiful stone casa rural are attentive and friendly. The rooms are serenely beautiful, in a slightly austere way, and the public areas are warm and lovely. The dinners, served family style, are delicious and a good value at about 15 euros per person. It's a great place to stay unless you have an aversion to children -- the owners have a few about the place. Also, some Spanish is helpful -- the hosts don't speak much English.
