We stayed at this hotel with Newmarket Travel. Wow, have they picked a blinder!! Vicky and all the staff never stopped smiling, and nothing was to much for them. Barney, in the Kitchen, all the way from the west country, produced miracles on a plate. I have to have gluten free food, and this was no trouble for our Barney,

Location was great, weather superb, and a big thank you to our guide and rep Roger. Our holiday was man. Nothing was to much for him, he even had the egg cooking machine at breakfast, working like a well oiled Sheffield Labourer !

Once again, thank you Vicky, Newmarket Travel and not to forget the co-op .I I missed was my cider, but ime sure if I visit again, Vicky would have that in hand.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the mountains, what a view.

We stayed at the Hotel from 2nd - 8th September 2013 organised by Newmarket Holidays. We had a fantastic time and were made extremely welcome by Vicky and all her staff, who were always smiling and willing, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, including cooked meats, cheese, eggs, and a delicious assortment of fresh bread. The evening meal was also excellent with two choices, which could be chosen the night before. It was all home cooked by Barney and served up with a smile (and ample portions)! Both the restaurant and bar area were very comfortable, including an outside terrace and a garden area, complete with tables and chairs and a few sun loungers. The hotel is surrounded by stunning scenery and we could also enjoy the views from our room which was large and comfortable. Everywhere in the hotel was kept spotlessly clean. Our coach party was even waved off upon our departure. If you're thinking of booking this hotel, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room no. 222 which had spectacular scenery and was very quiet.

I stayed in the hotel from 18 - 23 June booked through Newmarket Travel.
The rooms were fairly basic but clean and functional. I would have appreciated a tea/coffee making facility in the room but a fellow traveller informed me that this would not normally be included in a three star Continental hotel. I thought the lockable drawer in the room, operated by the door key to the room was very good and made a good alternative to a safe.
Whilst I understand the rationale behind only one choice of main meal at dinner (plus veggie option) I feel a second choice would be very acceptable. Notwithstanding this the food at dinner was very good with the breakfast each morning being excellent.
The staff were excellent; all very personable and they all seemed prepared to go the extra mile to ensure the comfort of the guests.
All in all I feel I had excellent value as I feel one cannot expect to pay a three star price and expect five treatment. For what I paid for the holiday I feel that Hotel Roc et Neige came up trumps!

Room Tip: Try to get a room which does not look out onto a bank as the view from some of the rooms are quite w...

Dear Pauline S
Thank you for your lovely trip advisor report and for our gold star! We have recently taken over the hotel and value your comments greatly.
We have taken on board your comments here and other feedback and are currenlty reviewing the menu for our Newmarket trips to include an extra choice for the main meal.
We have had a great few weeks with Newmarket guests and are looking forward to more trips coming up.
We hope to see you in Château d'Oex again soon.
Warmest wishes from Switzerland, Victoria Lowther, Hotel Manager

Just returned (16 June 2013) from a short break with Newmarket Holidays. the hotel is in a stunning location with great views all round. Vicky the manager and her team are friendly and certainly put their guests' needs first. I have a serious food allergy but this was dealt with in a professional manner by both Vicky and Charlie the chef with a smile, not with the grimace I have encountered in other hotels. The hotel is based on a Swiss chalet and this is its charm for my wife and me and we certainly slept well and ate heartily. A big thank you to all the staff at the hotel for an enjoyable stay.

We also went to Switzerland with Newmarket Holidays and, although there were some organisational issues with Newmarket, we found the Hotel to be very willing to put their clients first. Rooms were fine, if a bit utilitarian, but really nothing to complain about. Staff were excellent, led by their very friendly English manager. Food was ok and plentiful but it does depend upon what you expect. There was little choice so, even if you were lucky enough to enjoy their selection (one main plus vegetarian), you were left feeling a wider choice would have been better - but not everybody would be prepared to pay extra for it. So you pay your money and and take your choice. Our view is that Newmarket should increase the price a bit to allow for more choice then many of the other 'issues' will disappear.

All in all, we were happy with the hotel which is situated in magnificent scenery.

Room Tip: all rooms have fabulous views

Myself and 3 others stayed at the hotel as part of the Newmarket Christmas markets tour.

The hotel was warm and very clean, our rooms had a tv and stunning views.

As for our meals, we paid extra for the half board option which suited us. The food was simple but tasty and I have no complaints about it. However what I didn't like was the feeling of being rushed through our meals. There was no time to relax while eating our meal, food was served a bit like a production line, at speed so the staff could close up the kitchen asap. Our 3 course dinner was served at 7pm and finished well before 8pm. It wouldn't have been so bad if there was a decent bar area to sit and relax in after, what there is, is both expensive and cramped. This left us with the option of either going to our rooms or venturing out to the main village. The village is a short walk away but is very, very quiet, although there are a few bars etc to sit and enjoy a couple of drinks etc though again it's not a cheap option.

The hotel is clean and warm, but totally lacks any kind of relaxing atmosphere at meal times, which for us was a big disappointment.

Hotel was basic, bathroom/shower facilities need updating, for a wealthy country like Switzerland, was surprised that rooms were so basic. Room was warm and plenty hot water. Food was ok, no choice other than salad which was very limited. The staff/courier on our tour did their best to to make everyone welcome. Paying over £1000 for a 3 night break, expected a bit more going on in the resort itself. The Swiss do not go in for over the top Christmas decorations, but plenty of real christmas trees and snow. The scenery was spectacular and made up for everything else. This hotel is basically a ski chalet, that is making a bit of extra money outwith the season!

Room Tip: We were in the basement with no view whatsoever, better on the higher floors with views of the mount...
