“Above all, very friendly staff”
Reviewed 28 December 2013 via mobile

The navigation told us we had reached the location, seemingly on an industrial area. Luckily the other side of the road revealed a nice old venue at the entry of a small forest.
The homestead encircles a small garden and as a whole appears to be authentic.
The staff at the reception is very friendly and check-in is efficient and personal.
Walking through the courtyard we arrive at our room, called 'borsato' (Dutch singer). The room is very spacious, has a large and long bed, some antique furniture and two TV sets.
It seems most of the rooms have been fitted wit a new bathroom, where our bathroom is clean but small and outdated. The staff told us that more renovations are scheduled.
The minibar is empty, but can be filled upon request. Instead we ordered room service to bring some water, tea, coffee.
The restaurant is very good and we're impressed with the service, even during the busy holidays.
The hotel is in easy driving distance from many nice places and towns.
After visiting Maastricht we had a relaxed drink in the vinoteca, which has an impressive list of wines and grappas.
The service at breakfast is amazing. No effort is too much and everything is done to make you feel a welcome and appreciated guest. And even more amazing is that the 'special' requests are repeated the next day, without asking: my espresso literally arrived at the moment we sat down for breakfast!
Absolutely a nice venue to revisit.

I spent a recently one night i this hotel and if you are looking for a relaxing experience in a quite area, this is the place for you. My room was in an annex building accessible from the court, very charming. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Wifi is working well and is complimentary, Quality of amenities below expectation. Breakfast not so exciting in term of variety but very high quality and impressive service. Very good value for money.

We stayed during one long weekend in 2 of the 3 hotels of Camille Oostwegel and had lunch in his Neercanne restaurant. Last in row was Hotel Winseler Hof. Beautiful ambiance and a job well done on the restauration of this farmhouse and gardens near the German border in the Southeast of the province of Limburg. Our room was on the first floor, do not expect elevators here. Room was lovely and well maintained. We needed the heating and this was more than OK as was the plumming. WiFi also functioning properly. No king/queen bed but two single beds with 2 bed sheets put together. We will never get used to this European interpretation of a cosy place for the night. If this is also the case for you, be careful making your reservation because the hotel has king/queen available. Rating the room on its merits and benchmarking it at the same time with peers: it ranks closer to NH Hoteles than to the Hilton. After arrival on the first day we had dinner at the Pirandello restaurant. Dishes varied from mediocre to good but not special, especially after the fantastic lunch we had at Chateau Neercanne. The fingerprints on the shining plates were accentuated by the spotlights and no invitation to love the meal. Next day we had breakfast in the same place and this was of good quality but not as divers as you expect in these upscale places. The lunch in the bistro was a real bad experience. We (2) were the first guests and after some 20-30 minutes 3 tables had in total 9 guests. It took the staff (on a business day) 60 minutes to provide us with our starter and our main dish. Food was excellent this time, but we were synchronized with the other guests. Staff was most of the time away, similarly during the breakfast and not attentive. We left before the dessert without having seen staff for 10 minutes. The front office manager's only reaction was "I am sorry". Over all our experience is that staff was lacking what it takes and that the contrast between this venue and the other 2 places owned by Camille Oostwegel is too big to be branded similarly.

The place of return of the bike tour starting at St Gerlach's (see my review). We spend evening and night in the cottage on the ground of this beautiful 16th century, carré build, former farmhouse.
This cottage, from the 16th century as well, has 2 levels, each with a bedroom and bathroom, on the ground floor also the living and an inelaborate kitchen. It is informal, cosy, not extreme luxious, but homey.
We enjoyed an extraordinary good dinner, and due to the good weather, served in the central court of the hotel, in the open air.
Only superlatives can be used to describe this dinner, the ambiance, the hospitallity and obligingness of the staff of the hotel and restaurant and the dinner itself. (The breakfast, with "champagne", was good, but not very special.)
Absolutely recommended, not only as a part of the biking tour, but also for the traveler, visiting this region.

The hotel is nice to look at-- but the Old World Charm needs a bit of New World Service, especially in the restaurant. Although check in was smooth, the room itself was a bit dark. But then again, that was due to the original construction of the farm ( ie with small windows) -- so many people may find that charming. Dinner in the Trattitoria was a bit disappointing: waitress forgot olive oil for so-so bread, fish was a bit over-cooked. Staff was friendly, but needs a bit of polish. Breakfast was also not extraordinary. For a "food destination" hotel, one expects homwmade jams or breads or something! I would give the hotel 3 1/5 stars. I note that other reviews were more positive-- perhaps they appreciated the "charm" more than I and enjoyed better food.

Lovely old building delightfully renovated. A choice of 2 restaurants , the Italian Pirandello or an Italian bistro in the cellars. The bedrooms are all rustic and characterful but mine certainly had a state of the art bathroom with a power shower.
We opted for the Pirandello and turned out to be the only customers all night - service was excellent , food was excellent but we both walked away hungry - the presentation is wonderful as are the tastes but we needed something more than that. Taking a drink outside in the lovely courtyard we saw more tables full in the cellar restaurant so maybe we made the wrong decision?!

I had a wonderful evening at Restaurant Pirandello at Hotel Winselerhof! The impeccable service and inviting atmosphere really showed off their warm hospitality.

We selected the 4-course menu, which was truly delightful. The ingredients were fresh, the wine list ample, and the cuisine equally creative as it was tasty. I especially enjoyed their truffle spaghetti. Paired with my dessert I had an amazing Italian sparkling wine called Gilli. On your way out of the restaurant be sure to take a piece of the homemade peppermint bark, as it is indeed scrumptious (and my purse still seems to think so ;))

The prices were reasonable and you can simply enjoy a dish or two and have a nice meal, or instead splurge on a course menu and make an evening out of it. I didn’t have the pleasure of staying at the hotel, but it would be a charming place to spend the night if you don’t want to drive a long way after a wine pairing or nice bottle of wine with your dinner. Plus there is a lovely terrace which, assuming there is nice weather, is a great place to enjoy an aperitif or even dinner. Would surely be a great location for a private party or celebration.

If you ever visit the south of The Netherlands, or live nearby and want to treat yourself to a wonderful meal, I definitely recommend Pirandello!
