Reviewed 6 July 2014

Nice hotel, situated in the forest. Navigation device chart wasn't up to date. You can also look it up in Google earth. Ideal for hiking. Only 15 car minutes from the center of Oss.
Nice staff, great breakfast. Modern locksystem. Room has good Seize, flatscreen tv and a safe in the closet that will hold a laptop! Also nice playground for kids. Free parkingspace.

Room Tip: Rooms have either a bathtub OR a shower. Mention preference.

Very basic business hotel. Rooms look like 30 years old. Bar and restaurant are ok, but breakfast is below level. Difficult to find. Sat nav didn't bring me there, as the road is now blocked from one side.

Spent 2 nights on business at this recently 'remodelled' hotel. Quiet location, spacious rooms, helpful staff. Overall excellent value and service. No hesitation in coming back. Trotpace and Betrand K reviews also very accurate.

Very nice staff, professional, flexible, at the Service of the customers.
The Location is about 3kms from the City Center, in the forest, very quiet place, very good for a walk/run through hiking paths. A Kind of "oasis" in the Netherlands!
I stayed for a few months in Oss and such a Hotel is making the life less sad even if I was not Home!

Room Tip: Comfort rooms are very good. A bit more expensive but it is worth!

I stayed 3 days. Its in a odd location. The area is close to a expensive residential neighborhood with beautiful parks and horse farms. I really enjoyed walking around this area.
Strange to see paintball in the back, a kids play area in the front and BOWLING inside???
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. Rooms are basic. "Adult" channels are free on the TV all day and night (this might be a issue this US visitors with kids). My major complaint is that the water in the shower is EXTREMELY HOT and i got burned very badly. I almost had to go to the hospital. Be every careful with the hot water! My coworker had to change his room twice because of the noise from the bowling lanes.

Room Tip: Be careful with the hot water in the shower. EXTREMELY hot!

Reviewed 9 August 2013

We stayed at the Hotel Best Western De Naaldhof in Oss, Holland, for three nights from 5th to the 8th August 2013. We arrived by car from the Ferry at Calais after a 3 hour 15 minute drive from the port. First impressions of the hotel were excellent - but be prepared to have your SATNAV take you all over the place to find it! The former routes into the hotel are now bicycle paths and are therefore inaccessible by car, so be careful! If you are leaving the A59 motorway, exit onto the N329 going north. You will pass a petrol station on the opposite carriegeway. Keep going and then exit the next off ramp to avoid going under the bridge you see ahead of you. At the traffic lights turn left along JULIANASINGEL and keep going. Cross the round about and move into the left lane and then look out for the hotel Naaldorf signs as you continue ahead. After about 800 metres, stay in the left lane and turn left cross the dual carriegeway and proceed slowly along the wooded forest road that is DOCFALAAN. Keep going to the end and the hotel is on the left. Caution! - speed bumps are everywhere! The SATNAV led us into the Industrial Estate to begin with so take care!

Once you get there, the hotel has ample free parking so that should not be a problem, except in the late evening as many people seem to come to the hotel for dinner or socialising - but we still found a space. We booked a family room for 450 Euros for the three nights. The room is massive! There are four beds in it, arranged as two singles side by side in two separate sections of the room (see pictures). There is a flatscreen TV, tea and coffee facilities (Kettle) and a walk-in shower, toilet and washbasin area as well as plenty of seating. Air conditioning is unfortunately not available in room which is a pity. However, the large windows in the room can be fully opened. The room has plenty of storage for clothes and an in-room safe which is useful for stowing the laptop away from prying eyes. The hotel has free WiFi, so your laptops, tablets and phones can all use this for email and Internet as required. The room has electricity saving built in so use your card key into the slot on the wall to activate power for lighting, etc. Our room was made up each day and the overall quality of the hotel is excellent - spotlessly clean and very welcoming with English being spoken widely. We ate at two very nice restaurants, one in Eindhoven and one in Boxtel and reservations were made for us by the hotel without us needing to ask (see separate reviews of the restaurants).

Breakfast? Ok, for us this was perhaps the downside. Breakfast consists of traditional dutch fare - meats and bread with fruit and yogurts. They also have cereal and they have some cooked bacon )cooked very dark and crispy), sausages (rather tasteless) and scrambled egg (a bit hard and not really what I would call tasty). But this is not the same as the usual fare that can be found at many International hotels. The food is somewhat limited so don't expect bacon, toast (we didn't see any toast) fried egg or a full English breakfast. And at 12 Euros a person, we found it wildly expensive for what is on offer. This is 12 Euros per person so two people expect to pay 24 Euros per day you have breakfast! There is no where else near to eat breakfast so you don't have any alternatives. We did, however, manage to get my 10 year old son's breakfast cost halved. We ate dinner on the first night there. Essentially we had two meals and myself and my son just wanted some chips (french fries) to fill us up, but it still cost us nearly 50 Euros. Hotel eating is therefore expensive - however, the drinks were not too bad at all and sitting outside in the evening with a drink was fine. The hotel also has a Gym and Sauna (which were not available for use when we were there) but no swimming pool, which would have been a bonus, considering that the temperature was hot on arrival (some 29'C!). The location, however, could not be nicer - stashed away in a forest kind of setting, the hotel is quiet and unassuming but is also a nice place to sit outside in the evening to have a drink. There is even a small children's play area.

A word of caution however - As in the UK, you cannot smoke in-doors but as with many European countries, smoking is far more widespread and usual than in the UK or the US, so expect to run the gauntlet of others smoke if you sit outside. The hotel staff were friendly and the service was excellent. Everywhere was clean and in very good order. The restaurant where breakfast and dinner are taken was also clean and very eloquent. Would I stay at this hotel again? Most definately. I consider 450 Euros for three nights for four people (the cost is for the room NOT per person) very good value for money. Would I change anything? Yes, but not much. The setting is lovely (the 5th picture shows a horses paddock as seen from the hotel room window), but the breakfast buffet needs more variety. I would like to see fried eggs and perhaps some baked beans and tomatoes available but essentially just a more varied breakfast offering. Also, breakfast needs to be more competitively priced. In room air conditioning would also be useful. However, make no mistake, this is a lovely hotel and could also be a useful base from which to explore Holland. Amsterdam, where we spent a day out, is about 1 and a half hours away. Eindhoven was 50 minutes drive. Even Germany is only two hours away. The roads are good. Enjoy!

Room Tip: We booked online using BOOKING.COM - book the Family Room if you have kids.

A pleasant surprise

With a late arrival at the hotel we were greeted with all the usual professionalism one expects with a quick check-in. Then came the surprise we hadn’t expected. The receptionist asked if we had eaten dinner yet. As the time was just before 10pm, and we hadn’t, we were really grateful when he offered to keep the kitchen open for us.

The rooms were larger than expected, clean and with excellent space for work and comfort.
