“not been served”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

lovely place, great view it s a pity that after waiting 20 min we havent been served:(. 2 guys behind the bar and 2 waitresses chatting at one of the table. there was another family, already eating, otherwise the place was empty. we waited 20 minutes, hoping that someone would come to us and ask what we were doing there, but the staff were too busy enjoying themselves and did not care about the guests. We have left with an empty stomach.

“Not worth the visit”
Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

I guess not everyone knows the difference between good fresh food and re- heated food. The views are to die for and the service was good but I would not eat here again, I've eaten better in a Morrisons cafe.

“Great Venue to eat - worth the wait”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

We ate here (for the 3rd time) last month on Good Friday evening. It was packed because the Proprieter was having a birthday party as well - all 35 of them!!!. It's a pub with a great atmosphere, warm welcome, fabulous views and large portions of very tasty food. We had to wait a long time but this was exceptional circumstances and to be absolutely fair to the Proprieter, he pre-warned me when I booked for a table of 10. If you want a quick meal, then maybe this place is not for you. If want to relax with friends & family, enjoy a slow evening and savour a delicious fair-priced meal - come on down. Whilst waiting for our meal we took loads of photos of an amazing sunset and had a fantastic evening. Thanks very much. Highly recommended.

“Nice food, nice atmosphere, nice service”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

The choice of this place was at a late time in the evening, after a long day of driving, walking and mountain bike.
Tired, hungry and almost at 10.00pm, the choices of finding an open restaurant where to be served were slim.
When getting in, the atmosphere was welcoming, nice laughs and smiles from customers invited to stay. When asking if the kitchen was open, the guy at the bar immediately went to ask and replied "choose any table you want".
Menus and specials were shown by the young waitresses with a smile and the food surrounding us looked appetizing.

Once the food was ordered and with a drink in our hands, it was time to wait for the food to come. A simple fish (cod) and chips. When it arrived, the portions were quite well sized, the fish was fresh and the cod crumbled in bits showing how fresh and well cooked it was not raw, not a bit overcooked. The batter was thin and light. Everything looked home made.

Almost everything, that is why I cannot give it an "excellent". The tartar sauce was in sachets no small pot for sauce and far from home made.

As a summary, good service, understanding the customers´ needs to keep the kitchen open until late, service with a smile

And we get to the desserts, there is a review talking about the ice cream being small. Far from it, the ice cream is a well sized cup with 3 flavours. It can be tasted this ice cream is not industrial made, it is nice, creamy and full of flavour.

Quite a nice place to visit. In general, the best place found in the Isle of Wight in every sense. A family run business where one can see it is a family run business.

Thanks for such a nice experience

Ah, the dogs are really well behaved and they like walking around, but they never come asking for food or anything.
