Love Quay arts for the workshops, shop and cafe. Great atmosphere too in a lovely setting. Great for singles, couples, families, old and young.

“Lovely art and cake”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We visited Quay Arts as we had been before just when the cafe had shut. We came back to have a coffee and cake and so our two and a half year old could try the Art Cafe again.

The art cafe was running an activity to build dream makers and mobiles. Unfortunately our daughter did not want to join the activity as it was quite busy but she was made to feel welcome and able to play in the toy area for as long as she wanted.

The main cafe had an interesting selection of cake and the coffee was nice. We were even able to look round the art for a bit and the gallery was nicely set out.

I am surprised that Quay Arts make nothing of their Art Cafe on their website, as even after the cage was closed last year we were able to sit in there and draw and play with the toys. It's a great place to visit with small children.

“Good coffee rendezvous”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Down on the historic quayside through a pretty mill race, the coffee shop is good for reasonably priced snacks, home cooked and healthy ! Soups and roll are always good . Room to sit out over the river when fine . A good place to while away the time.

“Excellent Newport centre”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Just popped in here quite briefly one morning on our IoW break but was most impressed. The centre has 2 art galleries, cinema, theatre and a large craft/gift shop as you enter. Enjoyed an excellent coffee on the outside terrace of the nice cafe, overlooking the river.

Definitely worth seeking out if you're in Newport.

“An Oasis of Culture and Creativity”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

We have seen many fantastic performances and exhibitions at Quay Arts. From the talented local musicians playing at Acoustic Originals to the most incredible Internationally acclaimed artists, the quality of entertainment is always first rate.

There are craft activities for those who are so inclined and a gift shop that is a veritable Aladdin's cave!

We regularly meet here for lunch, enjoying a wide range of locally sourced and seasonal dishes. There is always an excellent selection of vegetarian, organic and gluten free products. The menu changes so frequently I fear at times that the chef may be schizophrenic! But there is always something exciting and appetising to find.

Worth dropping in if you are passing by and worth a detour if you are not. Don't be put off that this is a Arts venue, it is wonderfully egalitarian and accessible. Everyone is made to feel very welcome.
