“Good premier.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2014

Stayed here for 1 night for a business trip. Got there as it was getting dark but what I saw indicated that it was in a nice area, with the arts centre nearby and the town centre too.
The hotel has a car park which is free and handy.
Staff we're super, welcoming and friendly. I felt cold but only because I had sat working on the computer for far too many hours and the staff offered a portable heater.
There is a pub next door which does evening meals (which were average) and where I only went because it was late. They also served the premier breakfast which I always like. The morning waitress was great and made me something not on the buffet.
I would be happy to stay here again. The room was big and clean.
There were very few guests when I stayed and it was only in the morning that I discovered that other rooms overlooked the river...shame as I would have liked one of those but it wasn't mentioned or offered.

My only criticism is that the postcode for the hotel got me there, but to the wrong side of a barrier where I couldn't park. I went to reception and they are obviously so used to this happening, they gave me the correct postcode...even though I was actually parked by the hotel, to get to the right side of the barrier was a further 10 minute drive. The postcode for the premier inn needs to be corrected on their booking system...this was an unnecessary annoyance.

Room Tip: Try getting one with a view over the river.

Always enjoy these hotels... great beds, TV, bath.. only criticism is that we faced the car park and was a little noisy.. didn't bother me but some light sleepers could get annoyed!! Breakfast great but a little expensive.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing river.

We have just had our fifth visit to this hotel in three years and it is just as good as ever. Clean, well located, good views, ideal central location and the staff are some of the best we have come across; several still there from last few visits. We had a slight problem this time in that they were unable to help us with a table on Friday night due to Xmas parties BUT this was a blessing as we walked into Newport centre, a mere quarter of an hour away and found a fantastic restaurant we will visit again next time. No problems with a table Saturday or Sunday night though and the food and ambiance was as perfect as ever. Beds as always brilliant, get a fantastic nights sleep every time. Thanks to Premier for such a great short break and all for their excellent low prices - you just can't go wrong.

Chosen for location as we were going to the Medina Theatre and this hotel is within walking distance. How lucky were we! The staff were friendly and professional, nothing was too much trouble. There is a lift which not all Premier Inns have so that was appreciated.
The room was spotless and the beds very comfortable. The location on the quay is an added bonus and we will certainly return the next time Talon are appearing at the Medina.

Room Tip: Request a quay side room if possible

This is the 4th stay in this lovely Premier Inn. The staff are really fantastic. Nothing appears to be too much trouble for them, and they remembered us from our last stay back in the summer. The rooms at the back of the hotel are the best, overlooking the water. (real shame that Prem Inn don't give options when booking as its pot-luck with your allocation) The rooms at the front can be noisy with cars coming and going from the restaurant next door, late arrivals etc. However, the situation and fabulous staff overshadow any small niggles. I wouldnt want to stay anywhere else on the Island. Love it.

Room Tip: Waterside are the best in my opinion (unless you don't like ducks quacking) but you don't ge...

Room described as disabled, but couldn't use the shower which was over a bath, disability means we can't get over the sides of a bath. Bed was extremely uncomfortable, so hard it was like sleeping on the floor. Woke up in extreme pain. The room was also very cold the first night as the heating wasn't working. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and tried their best to help by covering the mattress with quilts to try and soften the bed, and brought a portable heater to the room. However we were told there were no rooms with a shower separate from a bath, so were stuck with strip-washing.The food was excellent, However after spending a second night and waking again in extreme pain, we considering checking out earlier than planned. Very poor room standard, but can't fault the staff who have done their best, in a bad situation.

This hotel was perfectly located by the water with lovely views and easy to walk into Newport for shopping..excellent breakfast and friendly staff.

The restaurant was by the river and we would have liked to eat there too.
