After getting a Groupon voucher for this attraction we decided to go. My son who has just turned 7 loved it..in his words amazing. For what it is, it is worth it. We fed the lambs, held rabbits, chickens and a baby pig called Gloria. My son also had one of the lovely ice creams. All in all a super afternoon out.

We visited on a cloudy with odd showers kind of day, we paid and were let into the park. As we were walking around we noticed a couple of members of staff busily feeding & cleaning out the animals. A member of staff I think she was called Lauren or Laura introduced herself and explained and told us of the events that would be happening throughout the day, she showed us the times and which buildings to meet. We had 5 minutes until the chick handling , we felt we were having a private guided tour with being the only family there but Laura made sure all 3 of our children held the chickens and to finish that activity off we had a guess the types of eggs game! That was fascinating, as we have never seen a turkey or goose egg before. Next we were shown a collection of birds outside, and then we went with Lauren / Laura (I am sorry if I have got your name wrong) to feed the alpacas, pigs and goats, oh and the sheep which obviously loved her as they weren’t interested in the food we had to offer them but followed us along the fence. We were given information about the animals we were seeing with interesting facts. She knew her stuff! The passion for her job clearly showed! Laura told us the next activities on the schedule & left us to explore the rest of the park. We went for a drink before venturing outside again. The staff were friendly and nice in the café. Off we went outside again after our drinks, to feed lambs, handle a range of cute pets (rabbits etc) . We stayed a total of 4 hours at the park as the children in between activities found the tractor ride on toys and sand pit. Ice creams on the way out were excellent too. Will definitely be back in the summer holidays. Thanks for a fun, knowledgeable day out. As for the cost of our day out it was fantastic value but the personal touch from the friendliness of staff is what made this farm visit so GREAT! Would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely return. P.s Don't be put off by other peoples reviews, just go and see for yourself.

Hello Mikkrush,

We are very sorry you did not enjoy your ice cream. We are however very happy with the ice cream we make, and we think lots of other people enjoy it too. Whether it's the countless awards we have won, the fact we are Lancashire largest independent ice cream producer or simply the fact you had to wait 15 minutes because we were just so busy. Clearly many people enjoy our ice cream and sadly we understand we probably can not please everyone.

We hope you consider giving our ice cream a chance again very soon, I am sure we have a flavour or two that you might enjoy.

Many Thanks,
The Team at Mrs Dowsons Ice Cream

We chose maybe the warmest day (Sat 17th May) to take my son age 10 and his friend to "a farm day out" . When we arrived there were several cars, which was encouraging feeling this was a popular venue. The "farm" entrance was through the Cafe/Shop. Several people were seated and queuing for snacks etc. The entrance fee included a drink for the children and coffee or tea for adults. Arriving at 2.30 we expected to not be able to "see everything" before closing!
Well! Going through the cafe to the farm was a little like stepping into a different world. Stretched before you were several fields with a wide circular unkempt gravel path which was about the size of walking round a football pitch, along which were around 5 or 6 sheds which housed the animals! The first "attraction" was a barrier which had a sign "work in progress" advising you that there was going to be a new play area. This looked like it had always been there and probably would be for ever.
A small hut housed a few chicks, the next shed had a few rabbits, then one shed had some pens with fully fleeced sheep and their lambs. Bearing in mind the heat of the day and the environment of a confined shed, the sheep looked distressed and uncared for.
Can't even remember what was in the next shed, as the children were concerned at the conditions of the animals we had already seen.
We did see some pigs in a field and a goat. We completed the circuit in less than 30mins having seen everything.
OK so maybe I am being harsh, but we have visited several viewing farms and the children have been on school trips and NEVER seen such a dismal run down place. The biggest attraction was obviously the shop/cafe which sold home made ice cream. There was plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, where the majority of people were.
As an attraction even the children couldn't wait to go and we all would only give it one star(just).
If you want a run out on a nice day, then tea,ice cream etc might be worth while (except the watered down children's drinks)
All in all our visit including our drinks we dragged out our visit to 50minutes trying to make it worth while.
Sorry but it all appears to be "Work in Progress"

Hello The Desden,

We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience as much as many of the other guests we receive each week.

We are proud to consider ourselves a "work in progress", we are always looking at new things which we can do to improve guests, such as the imminent Outdoor Adventure Playground which you mentioned.

I would agree with you and say your comments are "being harsh", there are lots to see at Mrs Dowsons, Goats, Pigs and Piglets, Alpacas, Horses, Sheep and Lambs, Ducks, Rabbits, Chicken and Chicks. We run events throughout the season such as Lambing Live where children and adults may interact with a real part of farming life.

If you would like to help us improve our customer experience and make sure we achieve even higher than our currant satisfaction rate of 89.8% of people who said they would "Love to Come Again". Please email info@mrsdowsons.co.uk and we would be happy to hear your feedback
