“Great food friendly staff”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

We have visited the Black Bull on a number of occasions now both as a family and as a couple. The food is excellent, portions generous although not over the top. Its a great little find, good prices and good food we love it. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

“Excellent evening with helpful friendly service”
Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

We took our two grandchildren for an early dinner. Whilst not a gastronomic haven, the Black Bull is excellent for its market of families, with a first class menu with a good choice for children and adults alike, at appropriate prices. In good grandchildren style, my youngest made an expansive gesture showering me with a full glass of excellent rose wine. Quick as a flash, barman Alex rushed up with cloths to make the inconvenience as little as possible, and he even produced an extra glass of wine to boot. Above and beyond the call of duty! Well done young man (from an ex local landlord of some 28 years). All in all a lovely night with scrumptious lamb Henry and beef stroganoff. Well done. Keep up the good work. We shall be back with our young guests again!

“Great pub food and excellent beer selection.”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

As we live near here we often go into this pub for a meal.
We have not been disappointed at any time with either food or service.
5 cask beers which change frequently and the landlord keeps a very good cellar.
When you go to a place often you can take it for granted so I thought it about time I made my views known.

“Enjoyable”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Dined at the Black Bull with family one evening.

The pub appeared popular and a nice touch was table service as opposed to ordering at the bar.
The menu was great with plenty of options.

I chose a salmon fillets and salad and the fish was cooked very well. The salad was not very good and they could do better in this area. Lettuce and one cherry tomato does not constitute a salad but more of a garnish.
Everyone else's meals was pretty good and the beef pie looked particularly appetising.
The desert menu was not comprehensive but OK with apple pie and an assortment of ice cream.
The service was pretty good.

“Good food reasonably priced”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Been here a few times now usually on a Sunday night. An old fashioned country pub with a menu to suit every taste and pocket. The chef has started doing specials I can really recommend the lamb kebab and the pulled pork sandwich. Whatever you have though you won't be disappointed.
If there were any draw backs it would be the price of a bottle of wine, what is it so expensive? And kids that are allowed to run riot in the pub while mum and dad are at the bar drinking. I'm all for allowing children in it's their behaviour that can be a nuisance if the parents don't keep them in order I think it's up to the staff to do so.
