Description: At the Hart we believe in great food, great wine and great company. We aim to provide the best locally sourced food, combined with an exciting variety of drinks to match. We place ourselves at the centre of local village life and make sure everyone receives a warm welcome. In warm weather we have a lovely terraced area to the rear, including a beautifully cosy covered wooden seating area. With comfortable cushions and a scandinavian feel. Inside the pub we have a modern bar area, child and dog friendly, where you can relax and enjoy good conversation. When you're ready to eat you can move to our inviting restaurant, which includes an interesting 'Well table' - can you see to the bottom?

This was our first visit to the newly revamped Hart of Harwell and we came with a big family group. The refitting has been very well done and the bar and lounge are attractive and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and efficient but had the place been more busy with just two people in the bar and serving in the restaurant, they would have been over-stretched. The food was OK, it's pub grub but reading the menu one might think that this was a gastro pub. Whitebait was a popular starter for our group but deep frying whitebait until it neither looks like or tastes like very small fish was an indication of the standard. The size of the servings of olives and bread with the starters was not generous for the price charged. The wine list is well chosen and reasonably priced but if you order three bottles of a wine at the higher end of the price range it's nice to get a look at the bottle before it's opened and then taste it before it's served.

This is the second time we have had a meal at the Hart and we have not been disappointed. Great meal on a Friday night. The Camembert was lovely as a starter for two. Our mains of duck and pie were indeed lovely. A real treat - at last a local place to eat!

The waiting staff were lovely and professional.

Keep up the good work team!!

We always go out for Christmas Day lunch and after several good meals here this year, we opted to eat it at the Hart. We were not disappointed. We took my teenage son for the first time and the chef accomodated my email request of swopping his smoked salmon for more prawns. The whole meal was beautiful and the staff were attentive (but not too much) and as lovely as usual. Thank you to all at the Hart. We look forward to seeing you in 2014.

First ever experience of eating out on Christmas Day - rather than expecting all the work and effort to be carried out by family members. We were a party of six who all enjoyed an excellent six course meal, perfect service and, of course, no clearing up afterwards. Coupled with superb value for money, the whole experience was really enjoyable.
