I've eaten here in the restaurant and had take away several times! Although once or twice when ordering take away the curry has arrived slightly colder than I'd like, they are mostly very speedy with delivery! The murgh jalfrezi is one of the nicest curries I've eaten, and I'd recommend to anyone who likes a very spicy curry. Service in the restaurant has always been very good, on one occasion with the very nice waiter discussing in depth with me about my exact specifications for how I want my curry cooked! Overall a lovely place to eat and a great take away

Would not normally even commenting on takeaway restaurants but need to make the exception with The Vicroy - have now had 4 takeaway meals and all have been better quality than almost all of the sit-down restaurants serving a similar menu we have visited. If you are local they are well worth a go.

Under new management - a couple of months ago and the new owner is awaiting his alcohol licence but not a problem as you can take your own for the time being.

Quite a few basic "front of house" issues .
The restaurant has no small plates so we were given saucers to eat our first course of poppadums from......
Service was poor and we had to ask for cutlery to eat our main course with as it had not been replaced after our starter.
We had taken our own bottles of beer but the staff did not appear to want to clear the empty bottles from the table so with four of us drinking, at the end of the meal the table had quite a few empties which had not been cleared.. Looking around at other tables they seemed to be the same, all were littered with empties which the waiter did not clear.
There is a grumpy looking middle aged lady who stands behind the bar and deals with the telephone take away orders - it looks like this is all she does though as she was unwilling to assist with simple requests like "could we have the blll please" , when she was asked , due to the absence of any waiter - which was a lot of the time. This lady is a member of staff who you see all the time - from the moment you enter the restaurant- (first impressions count), therefore for goodness sake please give her something smart to wear befiitting a front of house role and encourage her to smile a little - it would make all the difference!
Now on to the food_
The poppadums and pickles we thought were delicious, and the starters ok, but the main courses arrived luke warm and there were no food warmers on the table. The rice arrived several minutes after the curries, therefore the curries had by this time got even cooler. The food we found to be bland and lacking in flavour and spices. In an attempt to give the food some flavour, we had to request salt and pepper which took an age to arrive. Why these were not on the table to start with who knows?.
All in all not an enjoyable experience. The Manager needs to quickly resolve issues around the lack of crockery, the absence of waiters generally, and smarten up the miserable lady and most importantly sort out the issues with luke warm food.
The Bilash as it was known before was one of our favourite restaurants, sadly The Viceroy is currently one of our least. Until the basic issues outlined above are resolved, we will not be returning

We had a very good meal here. The menu is innovative with many unusual dishes. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Under new management, it deserves to do well.
