We visited Shorne Woods for a Segway experience but had time to explore the park. It is very well kept with signposted walks, fishing lakes and a coffee shop/cafe. Plenty of room for a picnic. There is also an archeological dig of an old manor house going on which you can visit. Dogs allowed. Toilets near the car park. Car park cost £2.50

We never explored the countless trails on offer, but the playgrounds were superb.
There is a lower one aimed at toddlers, but it also has an obstacle course that should challenge pre-teens.
The upper playground is a wonderful German design. The German's seem to understand that risk should be a part of older kids' play, and the enormous timber climbing frames do have the potential for injury. But that's what sets them apart and makes them so much more enjoyable than traditional play equipment.
The cafe was reasonably priced and the food tasty. The wood-fired pizzas smelt delicious and we would definitely try them next time.

Living just a couple of miles away from Shorne Woods, this wonderful park is for us a small treat a couple of times every week, sometimes for coffee (best cappuccinos and latte in the area!! as well as the home made Scottish shortbread) and sometimes to get logs for our fire place in really good prices!! and of course an ideal place for walks!!

I go here often and love it. It is really easy to enjoy the peace and get away from it all in this place. You do need to pay for parking, there are loos, a great cafe and a shop here. Lots of routes for everybody, kids, cyclists, dogs, wheelchairs alike. Just be aware that the signs leave a lot to be desired if you are going around the perimeter of the park, so take the map and enjoy. At the moment there are some diversions if you want to link to the Darnley trail.
There is also a free 5km run each Saturday morning, you just have to register on the park run website and turn up http://www.parkrun.org.uk/shornewoods/

The park is really lovely with different length walks for different abilities that are well signposted and easy to follow.

You have to pay for parking.

The cafe is good for snacks and cakes.
