I stayed 2 nights in June, and was given a disabled room as I have broken my ankle. The room was very well designed, and it was very diasbled fiendly.

I had the first room in the garden lodge, and it was surpisingly quiet. When I requested a phone charger, the receptionist happily organised for it to be brought to my room.

I was using the conference suite next door for business, and again I can highly recommend this. The room sits 12 comfortably with all the acceesories needed such as flip chart, screen for powerpoint etc.

The grounds and main building are delightful, and the breakfast served beautifully with excellent service.

Room Tip: If you like it peaceful, then stay in the garden lodges and not the mainhouse, it is totally quiet.

Stayed for 2 nights for a family wedding. Room was in the nearby lodge. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and willing. Breakfast service on first morning a little slow. Wedding was well managed and food was excellent. Drinks somewhat expensive.

Stayed 3 nights in early June. Had a first floor room with balcony in garden lodge. Had breakfast there 3 days, and evening meal on 2 nights.
The main building has lots of character and history (and, for film & TV fans, has been used for several productions, including - for horror/sci-fi fans - Curse of the Crimson Altar, Haunted House of Horror, and a 60's Dr Who series: I loved standing in the same spots as actors like Christopher Lee and Boris Karloff had stood back in the 60's). The grounds and gardens are beautiful and extensive.
Rooms in garden lodge lack character, but I suspect are quieter than those in the main building. The floor/walls sound-proofing was good, but (as is so sadly common in hotels) not so effective at the doors. It was also impossible to shut the doors quietly. It's only a short walk (100yds) to the main building, where the meals are served - this could be a bit uncomfortable if it was very cold and/or wet (so take a brolly).
Room was big, and comfortable, and very clean. Shower was efficient, with plenty of hot water. Mattress just right - not too soft or firm - but quilt a bit heavy. Great to have ground coffee (both normal and de-caff) and a cafetiere in the room, with a good range of teas, too.
The food, both at breakfast and in the evening, was very good. Dining room has a great atmosphere, with some lovely views from some tables, and gothic-type plasterwork.
Staff were all freindly, helpful and efficient. A manager even took the trouble to show me arouind some of the locations in the main building that had been used for filming.
One word of warning: the hotel is understandably very popular for weddings, so if you are put off by some party noise & a few guests coming back to their rooms late, you might want to avoid a Saturday night stay. We had a wedding on while there, but it was not too intrusive - just some slightly noisy guests, but nothing terrible.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room, and a bit of a garden view, go for a first floor one, with a balcony (not overlooking car park), in the garden lodge

We have stayed here many times as it is close to family living in the area. Some of the rooms do need updating but last weekend the one we stayed in was excellent. New bathroom, carpets, curtains etc. It was in the garden lodge which is where we like to stay. To walk around the gardens and woodlands is peaceful. Their gardeners are always busy and they do have a lot of ground to look after. Have a look at their kitchen garden. Very good. Parking outside the garden lodge is convenient. Have not eaten dinner there in a long while but by the amount of weddings and functions they have there, it is obviously good. Breakfast OK.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are quiet

We were guests at a wedding and stayed overnight at the Grim's Dyke hotel. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as a perfect venue for a wedding (particularly a small and less formal one).
The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was excellent. Most impressive was the building and facilities. The service was in a light and open room by the gardens, which was then transformed into our dining area. The bar opens out to a very attreactive terrace area overlooking the stunning gardens.
My only slight quibble was the price of the drinks, which were a little high. (especially £30 for a jug of Pimms).
The rooms were very comfortable and reasonably priced.
Overall a memorable occasion in a very impressive hotel.

Room Tip: Maybe avoid rooms which require getting through one of the business conference rooms.
