Description: Housed in a 16th Century building in the historic town of Horsham, Restaurant Tristan opened in 2008 and has been a firm favourite with local foodies ever since. Inside, original wooden beams contrast with contemporary style to create an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Chef and Proprietor Tristan Mason worked in top restaurants like The Greenhouse and Mirabelle before becoming Head Chef at The Hare where he achieved his first Michelin Star. The menu at Restaurant Tristan is predominantly British with some creative French influences, with dishes like terrine of pheasant and turbot with truffle risotto taking centre stage. Ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible and the extensive wine list is designed to complete this truly unforgettable dining experience.

Had a birthday celebration with family. Friendly staff in intimate restaurant. The food was really excellent and we really enjoyed the food. The waiting staff as others have mentioned lacked a little polish for a Michelin restaurant, but this would be my only complaint.

Sat downstairs great view of the mini parade spoilt only by the great food that took our attention, we eat off the set lunch menu and wow what a delight, superb food excellent service with a wonderful mango and passion fruit soufflé . I know it is a one Michelin star restaurant but not for long as one will become two, thank you once again for a great experience

Not Michelin star standard. Staff rushed us through 'pre-dinner' . Menu explanations given in surley manner. Extra vegetables should not be part of this style of dining. Scollops delicious. Main course lamb, kid, goat. Lamb too tough for the serrated knives (all three of us).

Wine list presented upside down TWICE.

We have dined at Sat Baines Nottingham, Michel Roux (at Roux in Westminster and Le Manoir) plus Michael Caines at Gidleigh Park so these comments are based on sound experience.

On my 4th visit here I brought some foodie friends who were, like me, very impressed with the food. £25 for a set lunch of amuse bouche and 3 courses (choice of 2 dishes each course) in a Michelin restaurant is amazing value, particularly when it's composed of fresh, seasonal produce put together with superb technical talent. My starter of crab with foie gras (yes foie on a £25 menu!) was beautifully fresh and delicious, my main of sea bream with mussels was perfectly cooked, and the dessert of pana cotta, ice cream, foams, powders and cucumber was a technical masterpiece.
On the down side, we were served our starters a full hour after ordering, and even though everything else came in a timely manner, we got a parking ticket for being late back to the car. Also, I felt the waiters did not seem up to the standards of the cuisine, though they quickly put right the couple of errors they made.
More pros than cons, so I will definitely be back!

We dined here on Saturday for the lunch menu and were simply blown away by the quality of the food. The lunch menu is incredibly well priced considering the quality of the dishes and it is a fantastic opportunity to try a Michelin star restaurant without breaking the bank. We look forward to dining here again soon and if you haven't been already then I thoroughly recommend it.
