My wife and I thought we'd visit Sumner's Pond as we hadn't been there for about 3 years,
Well we were quite surprised to see how big it had got.
We were also surprised at the amount of dog doo in the grass bearing in mind there were children running around, so I'm afraid to say that will be the last visit from us.

Thank you for taking time to review Sumners Ponds.

I'm fairly certain that the "dog doo" you refer to is in fact geese droppings.

One of the advantages of the investment we have made, over a number of years, in creating wildlife habitats, is the increased numbers and varieties of wild geese, ducks, Moorhens and Grebes that visit us. Unfortunately a drawback of this is the droppings left by the Canada Geese who have arrived with us in large numbers this year.

Canada Geese are becoming a problem in the U.K. at many sites and we are not alone in finding the mess that they create is an issue.

In recent weeks we have been trialling a mechanical method of collecting the droppings, which hasn’t been as successful as we would have liked. We are also speaking to our Wildlife and Conservation Consultant as to the best method of dealing with this.

Longer term, it may be that we will need to re-house the geese, during their flightless period in the spring, by collecting them into feeding pens to re-house.

Meanwhile, whilst being messy and unpleasant, geese being grazers, their droppings do not represent the same health hazards as dogs mess would.

Kind regards.

Our 1st family trip camping in a tent and was full of trepidation as to what to expect, as I only had visions of a 70's throwback to Carry On Camping!
Well, the site was just amazing. Staff on checking in were very helpful and informative, the documentation supplied was great and we found our pitch easily. After pitching the tent we had a wander around the site which was truly impressive, the shower & toilet block was like something from a 4star hotel. There is an onsite cafe by the lake which is a bar as well and we had entertainment on Saturday night too. The village of Barns Green is close by with a nice pub and village shop etc.
A nice area for making a base and visiting elsewhere for day trips etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this site and would recommend it to others.

Just had another great week here, caravan by the lake with great views. Shower block is brilliant loads of room & very clean, mops etc for you to clean up after & most people seem to do this. 4 fishing lakes for some relaxation. Cafe serves nice food, staff always smiling but as mentioned before a little bit disorganised, always busy so says something about the food. Making the cafe a bit bigger next year & also talk about a specimen lake in the woods. This place is well worth visiting, thank you all @ Sumners Ponds, see you next year as already booked.

I stayed here with the wife and two other couples who brought their dogs. we were all so imoressed with tge showers and washrooms and toilets, ive stayed on a lot of camo sites and these facilities were by far the best.

The on site restaurant was a total surprise, the best ive seen on a campsite, very good food, live entertainment on the weekend. Its only slightly marred by a disorganised service but we were so impressed with the good quality food, scenery it more than made up for it. I would definitely come back here again as would my friends.

This campsite is hard to beat, for us it has everything we need. There are 3 camping areas all with good sized pitches and space between pitches. The new amenity block is excellent with large shower cubicles etc. and excellent disabled facilities. It also boasts a laundry room plus large fridge/freezer for campers to use. The site is most attractive and well maintained. There are four lakes available for the anglers plus pleasant walks round them or through the woods. There is a village shop and pub about 5 minutes walk away but do be sure to eat at the cafe by the lake on site it serves delicious meals.
