“Fantastic”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

Sumners ponds is a great place to visit in West Sussex.

We were not camping as live locally. Have visited many times and love it!

Great place to go with friends at any time of day! Summers evenings sitting by the lake having a drink with friends or visiting with children as there is a play area out the back for younger children.

Good is amazing! And great value. Entertainment throughout the year is great! From live music evenings, quiz nights, themed nights, outside movie nights and great seasonal events at Easter and Xmas etc.

Would recommend anyone to visit at least once, and you will be returning I guarantee it.

Great staff, all very helpful and attentive.

“Cafe by the Lake”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We went for an evening out to Sumners Ponds to see one of the live music acts performing as part of their free events (listed on the website). The music was great as was the venue. The food from a wide ranging menu served from the Cafe by the Lake was excellent as was the service from the enthusiastic team working there. We've not been to Sumners Ponds before but will definitely be back!

“Beautiful”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

We camped here for the weekend while the men fished on the well stocked lakes. Beautiful settings, luxurious newly refurbished toilet/shower block with laundry room and a cold store room.
Entertainment some evenings. Restaurant and licensed bar. Child and pet friendly. Not the cheapest of campsites but Highly recommended.

“Dog Mess”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

My wife and I thought we'd visit Sumner's Pond as we hadn't been there for about 3 years,
Well we were quite surprised to see how big it had got.
We were also surprised at the amount of dog doo in the grass bearing in mind there were children running around, so I'm afraid to say that will be the last visit from us.

Thank you for taking time to review Sumners Ponds.

I'm fairly certain that the "dog doo" you refer to is in fact geese droppings.

One of the advantages of the investment we have made, over a number of years, in creating wildlife habitats, is the increased numbers and varieties of wild geese, ducks, Moorhens and Grebes that visit us. Unfortunately a drawback of this is the droppings left by the Canada Geese who have arrived with us in large numbers this year.

Canada Geese are becoming a problem in the U.K. at many sites and we are not alone in finding the mess that they create is an issue.

In recent weeks we have been trialling a mechanical method of collecting the droppings, which hasn’t been as successful as we would have liked. We are also speaking to our Wildlife and Conservation Consultant as to the best method of dealing with this.

Longer term, it may be that we will need to re-house the geese, during their flightless period in the spring, by collecting them into feeding pens to re-house.

Meanwhile, whilst being messy and unpleasant, geese being grazers, their droppings do not represent the same health hazards as dogs mess would.

Kind regards.
