Perhaps my expectations were too high based on the other reviews - but I felt the experience did not live up to the big chains.
We ordered a sausage sandwich - and we're told "we don't do sausage any more". Ok, let's have a ham & cheese sandwich instead. After too long a wait (two cups of coffee later) we were told it wasn't cooked yet and there was none left over from the night before. OK, how about Cheese then? That did turn up but was average cheddar at best!

No refund of the cost difference was offered.

The menu is just a sheet of paper. Is it going to break the bank to remove sausages from it?

Why did it take so long to find out that you didn't have ham either?

We won't be back!

Probably the best cheese and ham toastie, made with 'torn pork'. Complimented by a Cappuccino that tased of coffee unlike so many these days. If ever in Horsham again I will head for Lotties for something to eat.

Horsham is awash with coffee, or coffee shops at any rate. If you prefer something cute, quaint and independent then give this little place a try. I have been twice in the last week and can confirm that they serve very good coffee, they will bring it to you so no queuing, along with a nice portion of cake and you will not have to put up with the noise and commotion that can occur in the larger chains.

Would recemmend and will be visiting again.

There's certainly no shortage of coffee shops and cafes in Horsham but they are, for the most part, rather dull chains and franchises. Fortunately there are one or two exceptions and Lottie's, in my view, is the best of the bunch.

The coffee is great; cakes either homemade or locally sourced and don't even think about coming and not ordering the ham and cheese toastie! Ham from a local butcher, baked but still moist then shredded; it puts the wet, pink plastic served elsewhere to shame!

Lottie and her staff are thoroughly delightful, and prices very reasonable. It is just a few yards from the bottom of West Street and well worth the walk. Next time you're thinking of heading to one of the boring chains give this place a go and see what you've been missing out on.

.. and that's saying something given how many of them there are! Their coffee is very reasonably priced with a double shot of espresso coffee as standard (if you are not as comfortable with caffeine as I am ask for a single shot). As a result it is probably the only coffee shop in which I would request a cappuccino, confident that it will resemble the genuine article as served in Italy (and not a namby pamby cup of pale beige coloured hot milk). I have sampled their banana fudge cake and cheese scones, also good quality and well priced. I have not yet had a chance to try their hot food. Lottie and her staff are welcoming and friendly, the café has been decorated to a high standard and I am happy to be able to wholeheartedly recommend this small, independently run establishment.
