“Not the best experience”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

We booked this hotel and bolted on taxi service as a package for the night before we went on holiday. The hotel was okay and the room was clean. The customer service was appalling! Ignorant rude arrogant staff. All of them from the reception to the bar! Receptionist 'boys' seriously need to learn some customer service skills! We had to wait to check in where to eye contact or acknowledgement was made. No help was offered to find our room or with our luggage. In the morning when waiting for the taxi to the airport, it was late. There were a lot of people waiting and practically fighting to get in the taxi. Very stressful. Taxi driver said they are really busy and not enough mini buses etc. Not good enough and not the customers problem. On the way back it's made out that you ring the taxi firm when you land and they come and pick you up and take you back to the hotel. But no you've to wait for when a mini bus is due. We waited half an hour when you just want to get home and not be hanging around. I wouldn't use this service or stay in this hotel again. Good idea but needs working on!

We chose the hotel for its location due to the proximity to the airport. We arrived quite late and had to catch an early flight, so really just wanted a few hours sleep. That didn't happen. Check in was ridiculously slow, we walked to our room and the whole place has a funny smell. The carpets are dirty and so was the bathroom. There was hair everywhere and actually a false nail on the floor. The bed seemed ok but I didn't want to investigate further after I'd seen the rest.... I actually makes me cringe thinking about it now. I would not ever stay there again and was seriously shocked by the state of the place.
Basic cleanliness should be a given, even at £59

Stayed here for one night before our flight. Was the worst night in a hotel i have experienced.Th hotel was hard to find and when we rang for directions from the terminal they didnt answer for awhile and did not seem to be able to direct us. First impressions were good, polite reception staff and quick and easy check in with explanation of parking and tranfers booked. However the on site reception was really over priced and staff unwilling to give any help to places to eat near by (there is a great little pub about 5 minutes up the road!). The room was small and clean, very hot, but fine for one night! the real problem started at midnight when we were woken by someone trying to gain access to our room! They managed to open the door and were only deterred by the horrified screams to show we were awake and aware. When ringing reception to report the issue no one answered for 20mins. Eventually we spoke to manager who simply said they had accidently given the same room key to another guest and it was the fault of a new employee, no appology then hung up. We did not sleep for the rest of the night. Transfers were efficient on return but would not stay here again, bad start to our holiday!

Stayed here for 1 night before our holiday and booked it as a hotel and parking package. Got a really cheap deal on it so didn't have very high expectations. Room was okay, quite small but fine for 1 night. Beds were really comfy with lovely pillows!
On return we were told to call the hotel to arrange the free taxi to collect us from the airport. Spent an hour with no luck trying to get through. The number on our confirmation instructions was an invalid number and could not connect when trying to dial through directly to the hotel. Eventually called Britania hotels who after a while got us the taxi company number and so called them straight away. Overall not the best experience but if you're not fussy and want to save some pennies it's perfect.

We booked to stay in this hotel in Feb 2014. When we arrived the staff advised us that due to a computer problem that day our room had been given to someone else. We did not arrive until the evening as we had been at work.

What we did not believe is that if the computer had only gone faulty that day random, people would not be coming up to what is primarily an airport hotel without a booking. A number of other people were in the same predicament as us.

What we think happened is that some flights had been cancelled and as a number of rooms had not been taken by the evening, as we were still travelling there, ours and a few other customers rooms had been given away.

They had to organise a number of taxis to ferry us to one of their sister hotels, the Brittania. This was awful, small rooms, dodgy shower, torn seats in the bar area. It was alot further away from the airport.

I complained when I got back and wanted a refund of the difference in price and they refused to do so.

I would avoid these hotels and this chain, they might be cheap but its just not worth it. I would spend an extra £20 and get a much better value hotel.

Room Tip: There aren't any at The Brittania

Bedroom was boiling hot with heating on full in May. Restaurant was pub food standard and they hardly had anything that was on the menu. Staff didn't bother to give us our wake-up call neither did they bother to order our taxi to the airport; even when asked again to book the taxi 20 mins before we were due to get picked up the staff didn't bother and I had to book it myself. Apparently it was my fault because the staff didn't know which room I was in- in spite of the request being in writing along with my name, email and phone number!!! Pay the extra £30 and go to the Marriott instead- there they understand the concept of service.

My wife and I stopped here for one night prior to our flight. We had a pleasant night and had parking included and a taxi to/from airport included in price. Staff were polite, can recommond and will return on our next holiday.
