“Perfectly adequate”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2013

Fine for a nights stay if on business. It's too far to walk from the mainline station in wilmslow and had to take a taxi at £6. In residential area. Very friendly staff. Stayed in room 107 on same level as reception. Paid about £70 thru hotel.com. Adequate for one nights business stay but overall hotel looks worn and dated but perfectly clean. My room had 1980 s furniture and tv although there had been a small attempt to modernise the bathroom. Comfortable bed. Watch out for the tray charge of £3.75 if you have a sandwich brought to your room.

Room Tip: Most of other reviews say don't get a room on ground floor!

A really nice hotel, staff very helpfull and could not do enough for us. Room's very clean and the beds was so comfortable! I would recommend this hotel for anyone. I would love to stay there again. The only down side was the location as to get out and about you have to use taxis. But overall the hotel is a very nice, clean, friendly place to stay!

From the booking right through to the departure, the service was excellent.
A party of 30+ colleagues, we had a 10th anniversary celebration. As expected, we chose from the menu in advance. There was plenty of choice, much better than a typical table d'hôte menu. Arthur and his friendly team were awaiting our arrival with reception drinks in a cosy lounge area.
The service throughout the meal was first class. The hotel were very discreet and accommodating in dealing with the surprise we had in store for everyone.
A great evening in every respect.

Room Tip: We did not stay overnight.

The accommodation is good when compared to other English hotels but does not quite make the American standard. Don't let that put you off the staff are great, the food is good just be prepared to wait now and a gain for a response.

We stayed at the Stanneylands recently before flying to Cuba . Room was very nice large bathroom , comfortable large bed , We had a 4 course meal there which was very enjoyable. We would use this hotel again and enjoyed our stay.

Firstly check in took 30 minutes as the receptionist couldn't find the booking and then had to go upstairs somewhere to look for it.
Then the room we were given on the ground floor was so dated and smelly.
There was a wedding going on and the noise continued all night. So got no sleep all night
The hotel felt dark and old like something out of a horror movie.
All the windows had a draught coming through and because they were so old the noise from the car park was atrocious.
The carpet in the room was disgusting and tatty, all the furniture was so old and it looked like nobody had ever hoovered behind the bed,
Would never stay there again.
Really disappointed.

Room Tip: don't go for ground floor

I am sure that I have stayed at this hotel a good few years ago, but everything felt very different so either they have undergone some major refurbishment and building works or my memory is going. This is a very nice hotel although I would stop short of using words like 'amazing'. It's very handy for the airport without being on the flight path so a good night's sleep is pretty much guaranteed. Most of the other guests seemed to be taking taxis to the airport this morning so I suspect that the hotel caters for lots outbound travellers. Plenty of car parking spaces and being a little off the beaten track it felt very safe and secure. Reception and check in was fine and all staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant felt more 'olde worlde' with nice oak panelling. The food and service were very good and breakfast was particularly good. Price wise I felt it was maybe a touch heavy but I suspect that as the Conservative party conference was on this week in Manchester, most hotels are busier than usual and prices probably reflect this. If I was critical of anything else, why do the cleaners have to hoover just outside the dining room during breakfast? The noise puts my teeth on edge and kills the calm start to the day! Apart from this, it's a good hotel especially if you just want some peace and quiet and a decent night's sleep
