I have now been to Healey Dell for afternoon tea on a number of different occasions. Each time the team have surpassed my expectations. Thank you - I look forward to returning in the near future.

Booked a family party in for my sisters birthday, we all had an afternoon tea. The couple who run the tea rooms were so welcoming and helpful. The food was fabulous!! The whole family really enjoyed the whole experience, I particularly enjoyed the perfectly baked meringues of which I ate two. My dad is a retired chef who rarely finds food he is 100% happy with and he was blown away by the home made mini pies owner Lisa made especially for our party. Can't recommend enough! Lovely surroundings, lovely food, lovely staff!

This tearoom at the Healey Dell Nature Reserve, is a step back in time: beautifully retro dining room with antique china and Bing Crosby singing in the background. We didn’t have food but it looked amazing. The people were friendly and courteous

This weekend was only our third visit to Healey Dell and the tearooms but I think it's almost certainly going to become a regular trip of ours. The site itself is very interesting, having been a munitions factory during the second world was and a mill site before that. In about an hour you can walk up the path of the river past waterfalls to some ponds with loads of wildlife, then back down the other side following the route of an old Railway line, including going over the old viaduct with views over the treetops. You would never realise you were so close to Rochdale. They have maps available at the tea rooms (which need returning) if you have never been before.
The tearooms open at 10am and along with the large room upstairs have a room downstairs which is dog and muddy boots friendly. It is furnished in the style of a Victorian tea room, with plates on display, heavy pelmets and bold colours.
I have had the full English every time, with my partner having also had the veggie breakfast, both are very good. The house blend tea served in a pot with strainer is delicious too, with a range of other teas also available.
My only criticism would be on our most recent visit it was a cold day so the door to the downstairs room was shut and there was a humidifier running with a strong lemon scent to it, which we could almost taste in the air by the end of our breakfasts.

Dear Richard,

First of all, many apologies for responding to your wonderful message late. Thank you so much for your detailed and great comment. We are so glad that you enjoyed the food and ambient of the tea room. Your feedback has encouraged us to keep the standard of food and service high. We have also taken your kind advice about the humidifier, we will make the scent lighter and more subtle. Thank you again and hope to see you soon.

Visited these tea rooms today, absolutely wonderful. The tea room was stunning, the food was amazing and the young man who served us was so friendly and gave us so much information about the area. We could have stayed there all afternoon. Definitely recommend this as a must when visiting the Dell, we will certainly be returning. Susan and Trevor Bamford.
