Visited this branch as was looking for a quick meal in Runcorn. Ordered from the burger menu, service was fast even though the pub was extremely busy (5.30pm on a Thursday), food was well cooked and presented, and of a good standard - I'd say better than average for a chain pub. Pricing v reasonable, and the customer service from the staff was great. Empty tables were cleared quickly. Would visit again.

We visited in October before going on holiday for a treat. I had the chicken skewers (very very nice) whilst my o/h ordered one of their amazing burgers...only to be disappointed as he was informed that burgers were off the menu. He ended up with scampi but was even more disappointed when it arrived, after only 15 minutes after ordering, and very well done! We also had to chase the serving staff twice for the sauce! That said, this is the first time we have been less than impressed with the food here as although you have to wait usually 20-40 mins (as it is a very popular pub) for it to arrive, the standard is usually very good.

We haven't let this put us off at all and we will eat here again soon but next time we will be prepared for a 2nd choice in case we can't have our first choice!!

The bar service has improved since the last review but sometimes customers are served out of turn and waiting times at the bar can be a little long but again this is to be expected in a popular town centre pub. In addition to this we hear there is a new manager here so maybe she can work her magic...

The one thing I've noticed with this particular wetherspoons is that every drink is served in the correct branded glass. That might seem like a small point but it's a novelty to have a Carling glass or a jam jar glass or a proper cocktail glass.
The staff are always pleasant and the service is quick.
Honestly food can be hit and miss depending on what you order but 9 times out of 10 it's fine. There's always plenty of seating, but if you sit by the doors to the beer garden it can get cold with the smokers walking in and out all the time.

Been here many many times....its a Wetherspoons so much like them all, good real ales and good value meals but not the place to go for a classy meal. If you want your belly filling and money left in your pocket do come here, if you want a excellent meal head to the Indian around the corner or the new Italian up the road, both of which are in Tripadvisor.

I have always found staff very helpful and will continue to frequent the Ferry....one word of warning if your not a local, don't use the pay and display car park to the rear, the parking on the front in church Street is free as are local car parks.
