We booed this hotel as had a party to attend in Liverpool L26 the hotel is directly opposite runcorn train station and is easily found from the road as well! We booked 4 rooms . The rooms do need a little overhaul decor wise but the bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! Data lite tv and flat screens in every room! Eat all you want Continental Breakfast is included in the 39 pounds booking fee and for 2.75 you can also have full English cooked fresh to order! Staff were the nicest people you could ever meet and made us feel as though we were at home or visiting old friends! The bit with red hair was outstanding! We asked for a taxi and they did not disappoint. Karen the taxi driver had us laughing all the way to the party and the cost was only 12 pounds ( despite everyone saying it would be extortionate) Karen also arranged to pick us up at the end of night and played music for us and danced all the way home. A wonderful experience all round! Please get Karen if you need a taxi the staff know her well! Thank you to all for a truly wonderful stay

The only issues my boyfriend and I had were that the bathroom door didn't close properly, and there was only one plug socket (meaning the TV had to be unplugged in order to charge anything). I would suggest bringing your own shampoo/conditioner - they have a dispenser with some in but it smells like cleaning products. The wifi could be slow at times. But this hotel and the room itself was perfect for what we wanted it for, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The only problem is that there wasn't a cash point around! It was a lovely well-lit room, and despite it being noisy outside due to the main road/expressway, our room was quiet. The Railway Hotel was just across the road, and sold cheap but excellent food. Loved the experience overall.

Room Tip: Middle floor is nice, book a room not facing the reception. Book a top-floor room for smoking rooms...

Runcorn is the epitome of Depression UK- closed shops more than open ones. The Campanile is a true reflection of this: The room was musty and smelling of bad drains and is so shabby it beggars belief for a so-called modern hotel. There are some down at heel Travelodges around, usually those attached to defunct Little Chefs, but they are infinitely better than this Campanile. Only one plug socket and the tv was plugged into this so if you wanted to charge phone or tablet/laptop then no tv-although the tv reception was very poor. On the direct flight-path for Liverpool Airport, next to major roadway and the station - loads of noise and inadequate sound insulation. States wi-fi available in every room but signal totally inadequate - only accessible inthe bar/reception area. Totally unacceptable.

Room Tip: avoid like the plague!

There were no plug sockets in the room... this rendered the free wifi completely useless as I couldn't charge my laptop. The room was clean enough but ugly and there were bizarre stains on the walls that I didn't wish to inspect too closely...

Stayed for one night. When we went to check in, the women on the reception was very blunt. We didn't seem welcome at the hotel. When we got the keys she was very quick to say where the room was.
Had to go up some horrible stairs because we was on the third floor.
The room was very old looking & was very damaged and dirty! Would t come again if someone paid me!!

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel

Sorry, but I did not feel safe in this hotel - was set up like an American hotel and the rooms did not feel secure. The towels smelled clean, but had stains on them that obviously had accrued over time. The room smelt musty and was just not an enjoyable experience.

Went down to breakfast in the morning and I was going to upgrade to a cooked breakfast (making the total £8!!) but after seeing the state of the pans, decided against it. My friend had a croissant and was disappointed to see that they were not fully cooked inside and the dough was still raw.

Yes, definitely a great rate for travelling on a budget, but I would rather pay more and feel safe and clean.
