“Stayed in quieter”
Reviewed 2 February 2014 via mobile

I've stayed in several holiday inns both in UK and in Europe and have always enjoyed my stay - not at this one though!
Starting with positives;
- pleasant receptionist in large, welcoming foyer area
- clean and well presented room

Now the negatives;
- room 201 very small with a very tired wooden desk and another wooden
item of furniture
- Noisy 'hum' all night from air con unit outside
- constant loud noise from other guests all through the night - I went to bed at 11pm and was kept awake throughout until 6am by loud and clearly drunk guests slamming doors, shouting and shrieking
- small double bed
- no extra pillows
- restaurant on site very expensive so we drove to Table Table pub nearby at premier inn
- breakfast at £14 or £10 if bought when checking in!!! Why so expensive??
All in all my worst experience at a holiday inn which, hopefully, will not deter me from others.

We stayed hear a few times before but this time differed as there were no rowdy partys etc going on in and around the bar area which made the area a nice relaxing place to be. The reception and bar staff were friendly and profesional in there manor. The room we had was clean and roomy for the one night but the sofa was unusable as it was so badly worn/ shabby and sunken you couldnt sit on it (room 527) if you want to check it.The only issue we had was @ 5am a generator seemed to kick in and the noise that was coming through the air vent in the bathroom woke us up. We tried closing the bathroom door but it was vibrating through the wall at the side of the bed. Just what you want on a Sunday morning. The hotel is in a great location for Cheshire oaks and Chester, both we visited on this stay and we would return but only if the price was right.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views

Staff were pleasant but the room was old and freezing cold. The room thermostat was set to a "fixed setting according to the season". I stayed in January and the "heating" system was blowing out cold air. The drawers were glued shut and the wooden surface of the desk was scored with marks. The towels didn't smell fresh and the wardrobe smelt musty.

Very dated, old and cold. I will not be staying here again.

Post Christmas short break due to activity present for nearby attraction. This looks like any typical Holiday Inn but what makes this fairly special is the staff. Reception and restaurant employees were courteous and welcoming (appreciate that this was a quiet period for the hotel and unsure whether this attitude would exist when conferences or large parties were in attendance).

Bijou rooms, smaller than anticipated but perfectly adequate for a short stay. Possibly too warm at night and regulation of heating was not too successful. Close to the M56 Motorway and easy to locate. Good base for Chester of Mersey ferry.

Fairly limited range for breakfast but hot items cooked to order, which were delicious. Good Coffee, unusual Pancake making machine. Again quiet in the restaurant but staff were attentive without being officious or overpowering.

Good 'Spirit' leisure facility with the usual Gym and Pool facilities.

I would not hesitate to stay here again but the litmus test would be to arrive during a busy period to see if high standards experienced were maintained.

Room Tip: Avoid room close to central lifts/stairwell as generator noise was noticeable. I had to change room...

Standard holiday inn with little to fault, stayed new years eve hotel was fully booked, room 301 its self was lovely, big and clean, but the bed was in the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on and as you can see in the photos it was teared apart from bottom the tawal rail was broken again refer to the photo. I didn't take a shower during my stay thought it needed electrical work. Staff are welcoming and treat you right a big thanks to chris from restaurant and Sally behind reception on new year evening. Will be going again that's for sure just because of the friendly staffs

We stayed here as my works Christmas party was booked here. We got the rooms booked in advance for a great price.
The room was lovely and clean with everything you needed. The bed was very comfy and there was plenty of hot water.
We heard no noise from any rooms around us and considering there was one great party going on and plenty of free drinks we would of thought there would of been some noise. We didn't have the breakfast so i cant comment on this but the only thing we did not like was house keeping knocking on the door around 9.30am and again just after 10ish. As we was told it was a 12pm check out the last thing you would expect is someone knocking on the door at this time. Other members of our party all said the same and we have complained to the manager and this has been dealt with as i received a email back from them.
We would stay here again and have stayed here in the past without any problems.
