My wife decided to treat me to a meal at the "San Bas" on the occasion of my birthday. We did not book a table but arrived early in the evening, we were greeted in a friendly way and ushered to a table at the back of the establishment, the restaurant as indicated in the picture has been done out in modern but rather austere style (e.g. no table cloths) the wall adjacent to the table was covered by massive mirror which I found a bit disconcerting having to look at myself (not a pretty sight!!)
We each had a glass of the house wine (which was palatable) together with tap water, we did not have starter and I ordered for main course, belly pork with Apricot sauce and mashed potatoes, the meat was a bit chewy and the mash potatoes very sloppy the Apricot taste was a bit strange, my wife ordered salmon which she said was very good. We had to wait over half an hour for the dishes to be served which I felt was a bit excessive but presumably the food was being cooked fresh.
The bill came to £60.00 which we felt was a bit on the pricey side for the relatively simple meals that we ordered.
Generally a good meal but the fairly high prices will probably mean that we won't be visiting it again for some time
