My family visited Gigha to say a sad farewell to a loved one, and due to the numbers involved we stayed at the Gigha Hotel as opposed to staying with relatives.
I'd been past the place countless times, but this was my first actual visit, and i wasn't disappointed.
We stayed in the 2 rooms right at the top of the building. The stairs would be a challenge for anyone with walking difficulties, but this is what to expect in older buildings of this kind. The stairs were no problem to any of my party anyway. The view from the rooms was a stunning vista right across Ardminish Bay and the Kintyre coast - beautiful! The rooms were clean and well provisioned.
Breakfast was a traditional Full Scottish, though other choices were available. The bar downstairs was superb, as it also serves as the island's only pub. The banter with the locals was excellent as they are a very friendly community.
All in all, I'd recommend a stay there to anyone.
