My husband and I have just returned from 5 nights stay in Blaenfforest Granary. We were looking for a restful place to spend a week relaxing and to de-stress from work. When we arrived at Blaenfforest it was a picturesque farm; imagine jumping into a Beatrix Potter story book, and you'd be close. In the middle of a beautiful piece of land surrounded by forestry, fields and a running river stood our little granary for the week. We were greeted with a warm welcome by Sally, the owner. She made sure we had everything we needed and showed us around before handing over the keys and wishing us a peaceful stay. Needless to say, we were left to our own devices and free to spend the week as we wished with the privacy we had hoped for.
Now, the features of this beautiful place; Inside every detail was perfect. We had several items as part of a welcome package to get us settled including a bottle of wine, fresh eggs from the farms chickens, some home made chocolates, fresh flowers, caramel wafers and some very lovely toiletries which I treasured. The Granary had everything we would need for the week, a washing machine, dishwasher, hoover, ironing board, all the crockery and cooking utensils included, towels, and even hair-dryers in each room. Each room was made up so we had a choice and each had its own en-suite. The Granary was decorated with original items from its past use and had lots of warm lighting. We also had a TV with DVD player, Ipod dock, a beautiful wood burner which my husband loved with a basket full of wood and a box with kindeling and, a very welcome addition; a 7 seater hot tub with lighting, ipod dock inbuilt and massaging jets.
Sally and Russel had left us a folder filled with recommended pubs, places to visits, as well as the history of the farm which was very interesting to read and suggested walking routes around the forest. I could go on and on, we had a fantastic rest and felt no pressure to get up early or do anything. We went in the hot tub everyday and even had plastic wine glasses for us to take a drink in. The farm is full of life. There are many peacocks, Guinea-fowl, chickens and many other animals. We spent time going around the farm feeding the chickens and peacocks and were happily greeted by two lovely cats who became our good friends. This was followed by a beautiful walk around the river and forest in the sun which led up to a pond. The bottom line is, if you are looking for somewhere to escape day to day life, to experience all that the countryside has to offer and if you don't mind lots of perky peacocks and guinea-fowl, then this is the place for you. Wonderful hosts, beautiful idyllic surrounding, a piece of heaven. We will definitely be returning. Thank you.
