My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Gwesty 'r Emlyn hotel, for my boyfriends birthday. The hotel was even better than I had hoped for as a birthday surprise! We stayed in the beautifully decorated Ty'r Ffynnon room, which almost felt like a separate holiday apartment, set just round the corner from the main hotel. The room had an amazing feature of a 'Well' in the floor, discovered when the room was converted. The room was cozy and warm, cleaned every day we stayed with fresh sheets and towels. The double bed was huge and sooo comfy! The bathroom was so luxurious, with a wonderful rain shower for a long soak after a day at the beach, and the complimentary use of snuggly dressings was a lovely unexpected extra :). On our first evening we dined at the hotel itself. The food was delicious! ALL the staff were so helpful and friendly, it really made our break to Wales just perfect! If you need any help or advice on trips etc, or places to go and see then the staff were always more than happy to help. The bars at the hotel were lovely too, and I enjoyed lovely cocktails at the end of the day. Breakfast which was included in our stay was great, lots of fresh fruit, tea, coffee and cooked breakfasts were perfect to set you up for the day. An added bonus of the hotel is the fantastic Sauna, gym and spa pool! It's all kept so clean and easy to use, it definitely made our stay even more relaxing! I cannot recommend this hotel enough, we were sad to leave our cozy room, but will definitely look to stay here again in the future! Thankyou for a wonderful stay and all the staffs hard work to keep Gwesty'r Emlyn a 5* place to stay! See you soon! Laura and Dave x

Room Tip: Choose the Ty'r Ffynnon for a cozy but spacious, character filled room!

Old building but beautiful modern comfortable rooms. The food was of excellent standard and generous portions of which could be eaten in the bar/lounge areas or the restaurant. The breakfast was very good. I have been on 2 occasions both of which were good can not wait to return soon.

We spent two days in this lovely hotel and we couldn't fault it. It was our 40th wedding anniversary
Reception staff were extra helpful as I needed crutches following a hip replacement and they did everything they could to see that I was comfortable
The room we stayed in was a great surprise at it was part of an old brewery and had a very interesting vaulted shape . There was even an old well (covered up of course but visible through glass)
We didn't eat in the dining room but we did sample the bar snacks which were excellent
It was lovely to hear the staff speaking Welsh as this was my childhood language
Newcastle Emlyn is a lovely little market town set in beautiful lush countryside. The coastline is well worth visiting too. A couple from London were very impressed and couldn't believe that the area was not better known
We would recommend this place highly. It is furnished very tastefully and the breakfasts are excellent

Room Tip: We liked the character rooms in the mews section

Liked: Location, modern facilities, decor & friendly reception & bar staff. Clean & comfortable bed and pillows. Complimentary refreshments & bottled water.
Good choice for Breakfast & Waitress was pleasant and helpful if let down by chef.
Huge pat on the back for Newcastle Emlyn council for such a clean & tidy town.
Disliked: Confusion over keys (same key make, different cut) leading to broken key in room lock.
Strange design to room (No1). Plenty of space but bed too close to wall with radiator and dangerous wall light fitting (at eye level)
Snack biscuits provided opened and part consumed.
Insufficient Bar staff (Sunday)
Cost of internet.
Cooked breakfast average in both quantity/quality.
Cold cooked food plates & coffee, hard fried egg, cheap cardboard sausages despite great local 'bangers' in Butcher's across the road. Rocket science it is not. Just cheap penny pinching when the extortionate cost of hotel bar drinks ( the hotel is not in St Mark's square) would easily cover the possible extra cost.

Room Tip: Upper floors will be quieter (noisy floors above room No1)

This was the fourth occasion in which me and my girlfriend stayed in the pleasant area of Newcastle Emlyn. The peaceful area is incredible and approx 10mins away from several interesting areas such as Caws Cenarth and the Welsh Wool Museum.
What made the experience as good as the others however was the incredible Gwesty'r Elmyn Hotel and it's staff. We were lucky enough to stay in "the green" room as I called it which would compete or even succeed any other hotel room I have had the pleasure to stay in.
The staff continuously friendly and even during the most busiest of times, each member of staff continue to great you with an exceptional professional attitude and a smile. Makes every visit to the Gwesty'r Emlyn a true pleasure and encourages a desire to return more and more.
A key thank you to Ben (gentleman at the bar) and Dai (gentleman in the laundary) who made this stay even more informative and special.
Many thaks to you all, can't wait to stay with you guys again

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights over Easter weekend. We had a wonderful stay, the room was very clean, modern spacious and comfortable. We stayed in room 11 in the main building. Every staff member we met was extremely helpful and friendly. It was my first time in the area visiting family nearby so we were thrilled to have such great accommodation. Breakfast was superb (try the Princess Nest) and we had the Sunday carvery which was enjoyed by our family. Great location to reach nearby beaches and coves after a short drive. We will stay here again next time we visit the area!
