1882 Colonial Manor Inn
Ranked #4 of 6 Onancock B&B and Inns
Reviewed 3 September 2013

At the last minute, we decided to take a drive up US 13 to visit the Eastern Shore area of Virginia. We decided to stay in Onancock and found the Colonial Manor Inn through the Chamber of Commerce website. When we called they were very helpful and friendly on the phone. Upon our arrival, we found a very charming, welcoming B&B. The accommodations were surprisingly spacious and comfortable. Our room was located off the main hallway but was very private and quiet. The room also had a separate entrance, which was convenient. Most enjoyable were the delicious breakfasts cooked by Carol and served by Linda, the proprietors. We enjoyed the morning chats around the table with Linda, Carol and the other visitors, learning much about the area and where to visit. We would highly recommend the Colonial Manor Inn and look forward to a return visit.

We visited this inn because my father stayed there in the summer during the '40s to the '70s when it was a boarding house. It was a charming experience and Linda was very knowledgeable about the inn's history and things to do on the Eastern shore. We had a great time.

Room Tip: Room #1 is the best.

We were on the Eastern Shore visiting family and decided to stay at Colonial Manor Inn because it was centrally located among them. Linda and her mother Carol are wonderful hosts. Our room on the first floor had a sitting area, a large bath and a little efficiency type kitchenette. The breakfasts were fantastic and varied each morning. Linda ate with us each morning and shared stories of the area or introduced the guests to each other which was very nice for conversation. The area has quite a bit of history and is quaint and nice for a drive. Linda is also good at recommending places to visit. The grounds are quite lovely with flowers, a gazebo and outdoor places to sit. We would recommend Colonial Manor Inn without hesitation.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our room on the first floor.

We chose Onancock for our 20th anniversary trip and were not disappointed. The B&B is wonderfully decorated with antiques and artwork. Our room was large and comfortable and quiet. There were small touches that showed the thoughtfulness of the proprietors. The grounds are lovely, especially enjoyed the gardenia in bloom! The breakfasts were generous and probably the best we have ever had at a B&B. Linda was a wealth of information about what to visit and do, and where to eat. The town of Onancock was charming. We took the ferry to Tangier, visited the beaches at Assateague, kayaked and biked over our four day stay. We would definately return. I also especially liked that they recycle and are "green".

A B&B steeped in history and furnished with wonderful antiques, its owner a fountain of knowledge about the area's past as well as everything a visitor would find interesting to do. Also makes you feel as tho' you are visiting a kind and welcoming relative. The accommodations are wonderful, from the superb home-cooked breakfast to the cozy room and lovely crisp sheets. All-round a gem.

I highly recommend staying with Linda at the Colonial Manor Inn in Onancock. We spent a wonderful day on Tangier Island and then stayed at the B&B that evening. It was a beautiful place to spend the night. Linda made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside the door. She met us with a plate of cookies and wonderful ideas for dinner. The room that she showed us was beautifully decorated and very clean. She had thought of everything. Fluffy pillows, clean fresh smelling towels. There was plenty of hot water for a shower and bath and a coffee pot in the room for a morning cup of coffee before anyone else was up. Breakfast was a delicious affair with fresh fruit, warm apple pastry and later waffles and bacon. All in all a wonderful stay. Jacque S.

Room Tip: Linda will chose the perfect room for you. I suggested one room and she had a better suggestion. I...
