After reading lots of glowing reviews of the Inn at Onancock we wondered if it could live up to the reputation. It absolutely did - and some !!!

Lisa and Kris run a wonderful B&B and are just perfect hosts. The house itself is lovely and feels like a real home with just enough personalised stuff to make it feel real. Some US B&Bs feel a little contrived and appear to have been kitted out at "B&Bs-R-Us" with a samey look and style. The Inn at Onancock is not like this and each room is very carefully decorated in a particular style. Being big fans of the State of Maine we chose the 'Maine' room and it was just perfect in a real 'downeast' style. The room is on the third floor but occupies the entire floor with a lovely large bathroom with a super jacuzzi bath, which is excellent. The bed was also super comfortable with the comfiest pillows we have ever used. As soon as we get home we are ordering some on-line.

Breakfast was very, very good and all freshly prepared and with portions to suit all tastes, not too much, not too little, just right !! In the evening Kris and Lisa host their "wine-down hour" at 6pm each night and provide complimentary wine or beer to share some time with other guests at the Inn. Lisa manages to create some home made nibbles to have with the refreshments which were lovely. It all works very well and they manage to provide a very nice adult-beverage session with the opportunity for a nice chat with fellow travellers. This breaks the ice nicely for the following morning as everyone shares the large dining table for breakfast. Having met the previous night made the conversations easy and plentiful. A nice touch also is the complimentary water, sodas and coffee available at all times from the fridge and coffee machine in the hallway.

Onancock is very small and very quiet in a very nice way. Having travelled down from Washington DC this was the total opposite but it was a welcome break from the buzz of the city. We took the option to try a kayak trip with South East expeditions based in the Town Wharf. Bill, who runs the business, was a great guy and as complete novices we were paddling around the local creeks in no time, and we never fell in the water !!! Definitely recommended for a fun morning or afternoon.

The town is a few hundred yards from the Inn and it's all very easy indeed. Can't wait to go back and thanks to Lisa and Kris for a great stay and great hospitality. We cannot recommend the Inn at Onancock highly enough. Just fab !!

Room Tip: Look at the photos on the website and choose your decor - all the rooms are lovely.

Lisa and Kris have made an art of inn keeping! We are delighted when we first walked in and received a warm greeting from the gracious hosts. After showing us to our lovely room, they poured us a glass of wine and welcomed us to their garden where other guests were also enjoying a drink and snacks. The conversation and refreshment were just what we needed after a long drive! Our night in the Tuscan room was peaceful and luxurious--love that amazing shower! Another treat awaited in the morning: a delicious gourmet breakfast prepared by Lisa and featuring fresh, local ingredients. Again, it was wonderful to leisurely linger over coffee and conversation with other congenial guests and with the owners, who are truly hospitable and endlessly interesting. The only problem with the Inn is that after two days there, you REALLY don't want to leave! We will definitely return and highly recommend it for a special treat, an important occasion, a relaxing getaway. Thanks to Lisa and Kris for our fantastic weekend!
Marsha and Dave S.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Tuscan room, but ALL the rooms were gorgeous!

My sister and I were warmly welcomed. Kris and Lisa are fabulous hosts. Wine Down was a great way to meet the other guests and have a wonderful selection of wines and hors d'oeuvres. The location was terrific. I wish I could have stayed longer but will definitely be back !

Just returned from our second stay at the Inn, which was even more wonderful than our first. The Wine Down is a wonderful opportunity to sit and chat with the other guests and with Kris and Lisa, who are genuinely interested in all of their visitors and do everything they can to make their stay perfect. The breakfast is fabulous and definitely allows you to skip lunch if you are so inclined. :) There are so many places in the Inn to just sit and relax, you definitely do not feel like you must be up and out as soon as breakfast is over, it is like going home. Two lovely porches, a comfortable library (with a couch that is perfect for napping!) and a sitting room where you can read, work on a computer, or just veg out and recharge. It really IS a treasure and we can't wait to go back!

Barb and Dave

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely but the Maine Room is a bit more private.

Our visit to the Inn at Onancock was the highlight of our trip to the Eastern Shore. Kris and Lisa were extraordinary hosts. From the 1000+ thread count sheets to the gourmet breakfasts, no detail was less than perfect. The nightly WineDown hour was another opportunity to enjoy good company and great appetizers. Kris and Lisa made their home feel like our home.

My husband and I traveled to Eastern Shore because we had never been. We didn't have a place to stay and stumbled upon The Inn. Thank goodness they had an opening. Kris and Lisa were very hospitable. Their attention to detail was fabulous and their 'eager to please' attitude went a long way. I would have stayed another night had they been available. The outdoor patio was quaint, snacks were tasty. Breakfast was phenomenal! Would definitely recommend!

We just returned from a weekend in Onancock and I didn't want to leave the B & B. It was just lovely! Every detail was taken care of and the accommodations and breakfast exceeded my expectations! If you are planning a trip to the Eastern Shore and need a home away from home - look no further - you have found it!!
