this is a very clean and comfortable inn.
the food is very good.
the view, however, is not as advertised. the rooms do not overlook the water; in fact the inn is some distance from the shoreline (a long walk).
We had a room with access to a very nice front deck for sitting out.
All in all, worth a stay.

In total agreement with the former reviews, this hotel offers large bright rooms, friendly service, internet, laundry, a (luke warm) hot tub, and excellent food (both breakfast and dinner --don't miss it! ). On the downside, the location, although convenient, is lacking in aesthetics. If you stay here you will just have to get out to appreciate the beauty of the sorroundings --which may not be a bad thing!

Rooms are huge and clean, but the bed wasn't too comfortable and sofa and sofa was smelly. Continential breakfast was average, but dinner was spectacular. Close to Rocky Harbour restaurants and hiking trails. Staff was friendly and helpful, but two billing mix ups (billed wrong amount for deposit and dinner was billed to the room instead of a credit card as requested) plus weird off season fees that were never mentioned until we checked out was more hassle than I needed on a vacation.

Our stay started with an upgrade to a suite so we were delighted right away! The dinner was incredible. From the amuse-bouche to the appetizers to dessert, each bite was excellent. They were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions without sacrificing a great meal. The owners were present and attentive and it was easy to see that it's a business they care deeply about, have made their life's work. We can't wait to go back again, very soon.

Room Tip: (There's no pool but I accidentally pushed it and it won't let me erase it...sorry. ) I didn...

We celebrated our wedding anniversary in this nice and quiet hotel. We arrived early so our room was not yet ready but the friendly girl at reception showed us around. Nice jacuzzi downstairs and FREE use of laundry machines.
Dinner was excellent, not something you would expect in a remote place like this. The owner came to talk with us and we were impressed about his wine cellar. (We are wine enthusiasts and connesseurs). Everything was pitch perfect, if we ever go back to Newfoundland again this place is a definite must. I warmly, sincerely recommend this place to lovers of good food, wine and relaxation.
Thank you for the outstanding Chateauneuf-du-Pape !

This was our second visit to Sugar Hill and the first since they expanded. We stayed in Room #10 which was quite spacious and comfortable. Most of the other rooms have exterior access which makes cleaning muddy hiking boots a bit easier but that was the only drawback to this particular room. There is nothing better than coming in from a full day of strenous hiking to the delicious food and wine at Sugar Hill. Every course was outstanding and the service was friendly and knowledge (thanks for the help with the beer selection too!). Location is perfect for exploring Gros Morne; we can't wait to return.

This was our favorite restaurant of all in Newfoundland. From the bread to the appetizers --shrimp and lobster gallettte -- to the salmon -- it was all fantastic. So good we went back two nites later -- you won't be disappointed.
