Neddies Inn is exactly the type of accomodation that NL needs more of. Anyone with any troubles will leave them well behind if they open their eyes as Neddies Inn has managed to 'frame' the beauty of the surrounding area of Gros Morne without competing with overdone decor. The simplicity of the decor is a great match for the breath-taking view of the water and mountains. You can sit on the sun-porch with a drink brought down to you in the early evening and watch the sunset. It is a quite place that is perfect for those who wish to spend their days hiking who wish to come back to very nicely appointed rooms (they are immaculate) with an excellent dining room. You would be well-advised to make your dinner reservations upon check-in though to avoid any disappointment in not getting the time you wish. We definitely plan to return.

We spent 3 nights at Neddies Harbour Inn. Our room was a corner room with a great views of the water and Tablelands. Excellent dinning room with wonderful meals. The staff went out of their way to prepare coffee and breakfast muffins to take with us when we needed to check out early to make the ferry at St. Barbe. We highly recommend this beautiful spot.

If you ever find yourself on the west coast of Newfoundland and visiting Gros Morne National Park, you have to stay at Neddies Harbour Inn. What an amazing place, in an amazing location. The inn is immaculate and the rooms and views breathtaking! The best place to eat dinner. We stayed in the Shag Cliff room which viewed all the lake. The inn is right on the inlet. It will take you about 45 minutes from Deer Lake. We had whales passed right in front of the inn as we were sitting outside having an afternoon drink. We highly recommend it to anyone. The only room for improvement was breakfast was not hot, but there was plenty for all! There is a fitness room, computer for guests, wi-fi, sauna as well. We even took advantage of the laundry service which was very reasonable. What an amazing job they did. Everything pressed and folded by end of that day.

Beautiful location. Wonderful food (a little pricey). Comfy spacious rooms. Very helpful staff. A great base for touring.

Slightly basic fitness room (but amazed anywhere in this area has one). Readily available free internet. Very welcome hot tub and sauna.

Just great.

The place is done out in Scandinavian style - wooden floors etc. Decent sized room (big comfy bed) with a gorgeous view - we were a corner room, nice and light. The breakfasts were excellent, nicely cooked food, mixed fruit, wholesome cereals all served with a smile and great friendiness. Owners around if you needed them for advice. Ideal spot to stay for day trips. I very pleasant start to our short stay on Newfoundland.

We were really hoping that this was going to be the highlight of our trip to Gros Mourne. Normally we camp in the park, but this year we decided to stay in B&B's, of which Neddies was one. We were very disappointed ... there are many better places to stay (and cheaper).

We had heard from other people in the park that the food was excellent, so we arrived at the Inn after an 5 hour hike tired and hungry only to be informed that the dining room was booked by a tour group (who didn't even stay at the Inn). First the hostess took us to the sunroom where we were told we could order drinks (as long as I didn't ask her for one - she was much too busy). Next we were given a lengthy and unwelcome tour of the remainder of the building (the excercise room is a joke) and finally we were shown our room which included a 5 minute lecture on the procedure and restrictions around the hot tub (which cannot be used after 9 PM and requires a reservation 30 mins prior) and another 5 minute diatribe on how to operate the room's blinds (which incidently ruined our excellent the view of the parking lot). The room was very clean and we did enjoy a hot shower when the hostess finally left.

When we returned from supper (at another location) we went to bed earlier with hopes of an early rise for another hike the next day. Just before midnight we were awoken by the sound of clanging cutlery and slaming cupboard doors - we were underneath the kitchen. This continued until 1 AM ... and apparently we were not the only guests who encountered this problem. Another guest asked us, "Did anyone else hear the elephants above us last night?"

When we arrived for breakfast the next morning we sat at a lovely table overlooking the harbour ... until we were asked to move to the otherside of the restaurant (overlooking the parking lot) because there were not enough staff to clean the table we had choosen. The food was OK .. nothing spectacular.

Finally when we wanted to checkout, the lady ahead of me was busy complaining to the hostess (about dinner reservations) so I asked if I could just leave and have her charge my card ... she said no, that I had to wait. So I listened to the other guest complain for 10 mintues and then the hostess charged my card for the remaining $29 I owed.

I am very sorry that Neddies Harbour Inn has failed to be the highlight of the customer’s trip. They are right; there are many nice places in our region. And yes, we are on the higher end of the rate scale.
We understand the disappointment and frustration for not being able to get dinner in our dining room. It does happen quite often that we are fully booked. To avoid disappointment among our guest we mention on all our confirmations, publications, on the internet and in the rooms that we require reservations for dinner. We also mention it to every guest at check-in.
It’s not clear what the customer means by “the exercise room is a joke” It is a very spacious room, well equipped under consultation of a physiotherapist. Suggestions to improve it would be greatly appreciated.
We do indeed spend a few minutes with each of our guest to familiarize them with the facilities in the house and in the guest room which is appreciated by most of our customers. To use the hot tub we do require 10 minutes (not 30 min) advance notice to power up the hot tub and the towel heaters and to check if everything is neat and clean.
The noise issue at midnight is an absolute mystery. The kitchen is located on the complete opposite side of the building and far away from any of the guest rooms. Above the room occupied by the customer is nothing but the attic. The time sheet of the kitchen staff for that evening revealed that everybody has left the kitchen before 11 pm.
At breakfast the customers did not wait to be seated and sat down on a table which was not cleaned yet. Since we refuse to serve people on a dirty table the guest were asked to move to another table from where they could see the parking lot. They may just have forgotten to mention that there is also a spectacular backdrop of the surrounding hills, Bonne Bay fiord and the Tableland Mountains.
It does happen, that several people show up for check-out at the same time. Most people don’t mind and use the waiting time to have a chat or exchange stories about their travel experiences and there is usually quite a happy and relaxed atmosphere.

Everything in Gros Morne is expensive. But for a few dollars more than other hotels, Nedddies gives you a much better overall deal. When we checked out other places we were glad we stayed here.
And the restaurant is superb - probably the best meals we had anywhere in Newfoundland - and no more expensive than other places for far superior food.
Breakfast featured both hot and cold items. Not extensive but competent.
