I loved my stay at Almost Heaven Villa. Perfect location being on Great Harbour but with easy access to White Bay. Having a pool right on the deck was perfect for a morning swim. Would definitely go back and am planning to.
We just got back from a 10 day stay at Almost Heaven Villa and did not want to leave! Our 3 year old (and us) LOVED to pool. It's how we started and ended pretty much every day. We got into a perfect routine of pool time at wakeup, then walked to either Great Harbour for breakfast (Christine's Bakery or Ali Baba's) or walked straight to the beach (Ivan's and Soggy Dollar). We spend most of our time on the Ivan's side - with the kiddo in tow, this side is less busy and the water is calmer. Plus the Banana Whackers at Ivan's are a must-have! In the afternoon, we'd walk across White Bay's rocky path and hang out on that side of the beach (from Soggy Dollar down to One Love) before catching a taxi back up to the villa. It's walkable from the far end of the beach, but we were not that ambitious, especially with a 3 year old after a long day of sun and swimming. Plus, for 4 of us, it was only $10-$15 for the trip and you were back there in minutes. One at the villa, we'd rinse off the sand in the outdoor shower then hop in the pool while figuring out dinner plans. We walked down to Great Harbour most nights and usually ended up at Foxy's. One day mid-trip, we didn't even leave the villa the entire day - the pool was perfect and rotating between the deck and the main room gave us a nice little break from the sun. It was great just relaxing and watching the boats coming in and out of Great Harbour and listening to the music coming from Foxy's (which you can only hear at night when you're outside on the deck - you can't hear it when you're inside or in your room).
There's a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, toaster over, grill, all the pots and pans you'd need - we cooked and grilled a few times and had everything we needed. Plus, coffee every morning was a must-have since our little toddler alarm clock was with us.
It's a very open layout with tons of space in the main room. Our kiddo enjoyed all the dancing room and did many puzzles on the floor. There were 4 of us total and it felt incredibly spacious. We can definitely see how it would be perfect for 3 couples because there is definitely lots of room to spare.
The temperature in the villa was great. The villa's hillside location seems to keep it fairly breezy. If the main area warms up, just open the glass deck doors and use the screen doors to get some air circulating. We had the glass doors open and used just the screen doors pretty much every day. The bedroom suites have air conditioning which was great for sleeping.
The villa has wifi, which allowed me to get some work done while there and we were all able to upload/browse social media, but it would go out sometimes (which is expected in the islands). Whenever that happened, we just unplugged the router and plugged it back in and it usually came back on. The router is in the window by the bar in the main room so you really can't miss it.
Other odds and ends - there's plenty of backup sunscreen and bug spray under the sink in case you run out. Also a stocked first aid kit and aloe in case you get too much sun. For the little ones, there are beach/sand toys and a small beach tent (which you only really need if there's a young kid with you who needs a nap). Lots of floats/inflatables for the pool, beach ball, can coozies, and even a cooler bag in case you want to bring some cold ones down to the beach with you. There are also a bunch of beach towels. We were surprised to find a washer and dryer and were able to toss in a load of beach towels and swimwear midweek.
The villa is also setup so that every room has a view. Regardless of which bedroom suite you're in, you'll wake up to a view of Great Harbour.
Brian the owner is great to work with - super responsive and an all-around great guy. There's also an on-site property manager, Merus, who checked in almost daily to see how things were going and see if we needed anything. There was an island-wide power outage for a few hours one evening and when we walked got back to the villa, we found that Merus had put a lantern in the main room for us. It was pretty cool to be out on the deck when the power came back on - you could see it start coming on over in Tortola in sections and make it's way over to Jost Van Dyke. It rained for a little while pretty much every day we were there, so we were treated to daily rainbows over Great Harbour and even a double rainbow one of those times. You couldn't ask for a better view.
The location was great for us. The villa is right between White Bay (the beach) and Great Harbour (restaurants & night life). One thing to note is that this villa is brand new so when taking a taxi, make sure you specify "Almost Heaven Villa, Brian's Place" and that will get you there :) We had to explain a few times and found that once we added "Brian's Place" to the name, everyone knew where to take us!
I had the opportunity to spend a little over 2 weeks here this past July! I absolutely loved it. Almost Heaven Villa has a wonderful view of Great Harbor and the "Main Street" life of Jost. We relaxed on the deck by the pool and had a great view of the moored boats in the harbour at night. You can hear the music from corsairs and foxy's drifting up the hill. The villa is located minutes away from White Bay, where we enjoyed the gorgeous water, fun beach bars, and soaked up the sun. All in all, a highly recommended place for your stay in Jost!
