Sunwing tries to market this resort as a loverrs or a family laid back vacation. This place is anything but . This resort at best is your averagel 3 star run of the mill all inclusive .The only thing going for it is the beautiful beach and very friendly staff, but I never knew their names because no one had name tags on. So if you are a high end traveller I would advise you to avoid this place because you will spend your whole vacation complaining. If you are like me and my husband we knew what to expect from sunwing and how they brand a product. This being said we had finally arrived and our check in was smooth and our bags were brought to our room without any delay. The room was a great size, very clean but really needed some TLC.The next day we went for breakfast, agin you will not be very excited because it was a very limited buffet.
The usual stuff It was all hit and miss. Some days the food was excellent and some days you would not feed it to your pet. We had 4 al lacarte dinners and 3 out of the 4 were great so we were happy. The service was excellent except for the odd bartender whom was just rude , but hey we get that right here at home. That is why they should have name tags so I could mention his name. The pool area is very pretty Exspecially at night and is always kept clean. We our beach lovers this why we go to Cuba, bar none for the dollar Cuba has the best beaches around.Once your feet touch the soft whithe sand ,and take a relaxing swim in the crysal blue waters you just forget about everything and remember what you are here for . If you go with an open mind and re a budget shopper like us and can take the good with the bad and just enjoy yourselves, this is a great resort to do this at. If you or your better half are high maintenance I strongly suggest you go somewhere else. This resort is budget a hotel. like Sunwing is a budget airline. When you travel Sunwing as we have many times you know never to get to excited over the marketting bs they feed you. Overall we had great time . met a really cool couple from Montreal . hey Debbie and Tony miss you allready, Deb you always made us smile thanks.

we were there form sept 19 to 26, there was always something missing, at the snack bar and the piano bar: if it was not ice, it was liquor, the beer distributor was not working, the coffee machine at the snack bar broke...in the rooms: no toilet paper even after promised by maid. At the à la carte restaurant, no pork, no onion soup, not one kind of dessert????. At the buffet, don,t go in too late because when there no more of one item (salad, vegetables or else) there is no more.. Also great lack of organisation, 4 people of the same family , were located in building soo far apart it was not a joke. The last morning our bus for the airport was leaving at 8:00AM, the restaurant for breakfast did not open until 7:45am and...the grills were not ready, so,,,no eggs, no pancakes or else, we ate...... . The beach was nice even if narrow, when the sea was high the pallapas were in the water. Nice rooms with balconny. good and comfortable beds. Sheets and towels were stained, and were not changed even if requested 3 times. And don't forget to tip ,, never cost me so much in tips. By the way when I go to Cuba it is to listen to Latin music, not english, the shows had english music, the piano player and even the daily animation were 80% english and 20% latin. NO MORE, I will never return

Room Tip: YOU DON'T HAVE ANY CHOICE they don't listen to any request

Our room was fine but our friends did not have proper aircon.Buffet food was terrible.Found ouselves prefering the hamburgers at the beach. Not good for a whole week.
The beautiful beach and weather made the trip worthwhile. Very safe beach for children and non swimmers.

This was our 3rd time in cuba, first time in cayo coco.We travelled from Aug 27th to Sept 3rd 2012.
Our flight (sunwing) got delayed 30 minutes from toronto to cayo coco and also on our way back.
By the time when we got to the memories caribe it was 11pm, and check in took us long enough, because the half of passengers in the plane ended up being in the same resort.
That's because memories caribe had good deal that week, we paid $515 Canadian per person with diamond club upgraded already.
After check in, which took us about 30 minutes in the line, we had hard time finding our building from the dark.
The sign was really small, and there weren't enough light to actually see anything.
After checking into our room, we discovered it was the first floor (which we requested the second floor), we had no choice because the resort was nearly full. Everything worked great in our room, and we headed to the snack bar to grab some beer before going to sleep. Snack bar was really full and noisy with alot of young crowds. Since snack bar is the only place that opens late (24Hrs) we had no choice. First night impression of the resort was not good at all, but we would stay on the beach all day from the next day.
The beach was stunning! I've been to varadero, cayo santa maria, but comparing from that, i would give #1 to cayo coco.
There were alot of jellyfish (few days after hurricane issac), i did went to the doctor after getting stug by jellyfish too.
There is a doctor in the resort same building where the spa is. It was worth seeing a doctor because i never got stung by jellyfish in the past nor i'd never seen anyone did. The doctor gave me injection, pills, cream, and some ammonia alcohol, and it went away really fast.
THE FOOD:
As a 4 star resort, the food quality wasnt that bad, we had 4 a la cartes, it was great, except all the soups they served were all beyond salty.
The food in the buffet had good choices, there were always seafood grill station (shrimp, fishes, calamari, and meat grill station (chicken, beef, pork).
There were also pasta station as well. Staying one week, i never go sick of anything.
In the snack bar, the food there isn't that great, theres hamburgers, hotdogs, ham and cheese (favouite out of all) and fries.
Try out the lobster lunch at beach grill for 10 pesos! They're really good!
There coffee and espresso are always great no matter where in cuba.
This resort needs to improve some more nice spots for snack bar and lobby bar. Since lobby bar closes at 12am, the only place to have a drink after is snack bar. Lobby bar/Piano bar is too small, dark indoor, short ceiling, and its right in front of the washroom which sometimes smells. The snack bar had impression of really old food court.
The entertainment was great, both for kids and adults.
Don't forget to get massage on the beach. it was 15 peso for 30 minutes (back, shoulder, neck), and even at the spa massage was only 25 peso for 40 min!
The staff overall wasnt very pleasant. Except for staffs at buffet, a la carte restaurants, maids, garderners, they work hard.
But i'm talking about snack bar staffs at night especially. They would ignore you and chat, drink, and if there are too many people staying late (like 3am) they would turn off lights, music, and they would say they're out of beer, shots, everything to send people away to their room. This happened 3 times our stay.
Well there were alot of young groups during our stay (a week before college/university), some of them were really loud, rude, waste drinks alot! Maybe the staffs were annoyed by them causing trouble.
Eventhough, the snack bar is supposed to be opened 24 hrs! I guess we were out of luck being stuck with all those trouble makers. During our stay, i heard alot of things happend at late night with young crowds. If you were there that week, i think you'll know what i'm talking about. I just don't want to write in detail here. We actaually didn't felt safe at night at all.
For rest of the days, we stayed on the beach all day.
A day excursion to Pilar Playa was really fun! we paid 59 peso pp for Pilar plus, which we spent 3 hours at pilar playa beach with lobster or chicken lunch included, and then headed to speed boat in the ocean for 2 hours with half an hour snorkelling. That was amazing! Pilar playa is located near cayo guilleramo.
What else.. The diamond club.. unless your flight is at night, there's no use.. diamond club gives you 4 guranteed a la cartes, 4pm check out, special amenities in the room, other than that theres nothing special.
Would i come back to this resort? NO.. Because of the trouble maker crowds in the resort, they sort of ruined our vacation too. I would never go to a 4 star hotel, nor as eventhough the package goes on promotion for $500, i'd rather pay $500 extra towards 5 star resort and i'll have better service, and have relaxed vacation. This was sort of our experimental with such a promotion which cost us so little for a week vacation. But in the future, never again! Our money is precious, but as much of that, our time is precious too. There's always a reason beeing so cheap, and so costly!

Overall I have to say that our trip was absolutely phenomenal especially thanks to the resort we stayed at along with all the staff in it. It was clean, and the service was amazing. The bar tenders were a lot of fun and would put on little shows for us sometimes while making drinks which was quite fun and entertaining. In saying this, one of the things that made our stay so amazing was definitely the entertainment within the resort. The entertainment staff, especially Yandri and Gerald were spectacular. They incorporated all ages into the different games, events and shows they put on and knew how to make everyone have a good time. Both entertainers seemed very dedicated to their job which was very nice to see. They were very outgoing, fun, entertaining, funny, and very charismatic. The dance lessons they had were easy to follow and ended up being a lot of fun along with their water exercises etc. The games were often quite funny and the night shows were just out of this world especially the cabaret show, the international show and the Caribbean show. In saying this, the dancers were as well phenomenal and very talented. Thanks to the entertainers, Gerald and Yandri especially, my whole family was entertained through out the whole trip and had an amazing time. This trip will be an unforgettable one for sure and we would definitely go back in a heart beat to this resort, Memories Caribe in Cayo Coco.

Both my husband and I have been in the customer service industry for over 10 years.
Because we work in the industry we work many weekends and rarely get to take time off for vacations. We recently got married and decided to choose this resort for our honeymoon vacation. Overall we have had an amazing experience in the Memories Caribe Resort.

The resort, landscaping and beach were breath taking. The only thing I would suggest would be putting up a chalk / white board for communication with the guests. The bank closed, the show was cancelled, and the alcohol was removed with no notice. It was frustrating.

Also the rooms need a little TLC
- Our room had ants in the bathroom
- Our friends AC was leaking so bad that there one’s wall was soggy
- The swipe cards for opening our rooms worked sometimes
- If you pushed on the sliding glass doors you can enter without a key.

The people that made our vacation special:

We had just gotten married we had forgot to bring our marriage certificate. But Yennedrys went out of her way to make our trip special. Though she couldn’t arrange the usual honeymoon extras she arranged beautiful fruit plate to arrive to our room. It was so special. Also when we saw her around the resort she would check up with us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. She was very informative and knowledgeable about the resort. She is an asset to the resort.

We decided to go to Diego for the day. When we arranged it with Betty she was able to answer any questions that we had, and gave us extra information to get the most out of our vacation. Also when they did not have a minimum guest requirement for the day we had wanted to go, she relayed that information right away. Also, she knows English very well, and that made arranging things easier.

We had the Diamond Club membership, and we were lucky enough to get Leo as our beach server. He was professional, polite, and makes the best Mojito I have ever had!

The activities department: (I Apologize if I spell any names wrong)
Ana, Yamy, Oyarsa, Yandry, Gerald, Orly, Mario.
Individually, they all had made our trip unique and special. If it weren’t for this group of amazing people we would choose a different resort for our next trip.
They had included us in their crowd participation activities which made our experience hilarious and fun. It was a riot. None of them were ever too busy to answer our questions or stop to chat.
We had the opportunity to take Spanish lessons, dance lessons, and water games. They all made us feel like we belonged to the family in Cuba. If they were in Canada I would hire any of them to work with me. They have high energy, enthusiasm, and optimism that customer service should be. I was not disappointed with them once.

Also, I would like to apologize on behalf of all Canadians. I was so excited to choose Cuba to experience some Cuban culture but instead it was an eye-opener to see how rude Canadians can be. They were littering everywhere and talking down to the staff. I even saw one wash their bloody foot in the pool. I can assure you that most Canadians are not this rude and culturally insulting.

This was a perfect vacation, and I will recommend this resort to my family and friends.
