Have just been to stay at the Sol for a family holiday and it was fabulous.
This was a special holiday for my husband who turns 60 this year. We have stayed all over the world in many hotels but found this one to be special. The rooms were basic but very clean. The food was good obviously with an all inclusive holiday it can be repetititve but there is a grill where they will cook fresh fish, as many prawns as you want, beef, pork etc. nothing is too much trouble.
The only issue we had was that we booked an adjoining room for my son, daughter in law and three children and there was not one available when we arrived. Apparently, you cannot book these rooms as they are allocated to whomever on arrival. They had to wait three days for an adjoining room. Reception was very good and they can only do what they can do.
The beaches are fabulous. The public beach to side is wonderful and goes on forever. On the weekends the beach is slightly busy as the cubans come to the beach but that just adds to the atmosphere and it was wonderful to mix with them. They were busily enjoying themselves drinking wine which was offered to us well.
We went on a couple of trips - the most memorable was the trip to the dolphins. They were absolutely wonderful. The trainer with the dolphins was very patient with my grandchildren and if you just do one trip do this one. Apart from the fact that value for money it is wonderful it is something that our family will never forget.
I have saved the best to last - because the staff are absolutely wonderful. Their enthusiasam and commitment to making it a fantastic holiday is unbelievable. At breakfast Michael was the best "egg man" ever. He smiled every day and once you told him your name he never forgot. With a large family all the staff went out of their way to find a large table for us and mostly kept one for us. Our grandchildren went to the children's club and they loved it. There was a show every night and they would often involve the children - which again made their holiday very special.
The holiday has left us all with wonderful memories and we are all now saving to back next year.
