Just returned from our fourth holiday at the Sol. It is the only Hotel we have ever returned to in all the years of travelling abroad. It is so peaceful and relaxing that it is a perfect place to simply chill out. It isn't for everyone, however. If you are looking for lively, activity-led holiday you will be disappointed. It is a small, friendly Hotel where everyone gets to know each other , chat together and have fun - which you have to make yourselves. If you find it difficult to mix you may find it a long holiday.
The Hotel needs up-dating and some renovation work is on-going. The Beach Restaurant and Auditorium were closed for refurbishment, but no work was being done whilst we were there. The Umbrellas and Sun shades were being replaced at the time.
Everything seems clean and tidy around the complex but the pools could be cleaner and many Guests mentioned that toilet paper was missing in the toilets, especially later in the day. The Gardeners work really hard to maintain the gardens.
The rooms are large and cleaned daily. The beds are Queen- sized and quite firm. Some of the linen has seen better days but if you want anything changed the Maids and Customer Services act promptly. The Air-con works efficiently.
The Beaches are cleaned daily and are one of the main features that draw us back again and again. The Sea is beautiful and crystal clear. The Beach Bar serves snacks and drinks - Joe looks after all of his customers very well and always with a smile.
The food is adequate - you're not going to Cuba for culinary delights. The selection of food is limited but there is always something tasty to eat in the main Restaurant. If anything, the food is much better than when we were last here two years ago.
The Don Diego a la carte Restaurant is disappointing. The food is presented well but nothing special. There is a resident pianist plonking away all through the meal on a piano that needs re-tuning badly and so loudly you can hardly talk to your neighbour. More sedate background music would be a definite improvement.
The animation team work hard but are totally out of touch with what people really want. They cater for the young rather than the more aged visitor who can not and do not want to join in the more bawdy games and boring Bingo! In fact, the whole entertainment is from a different era and needs to be drastically reviewed
