Returned from this beautiful resort two weeks ago. My 2 friends and I had booked a week at the Tryp - our 4th trip to Cuba, first time to Cayo Coco. After a horrible day and night at the Tryp, we assertively negotiated with our WestJet rep to either return home or move to another resort. He made a few calls and we walked up the gorgeous beach to check out the Laguna resort. We were met by Ariel, guest services, who took us on a brief tour, showed us the rooms we would have, should we choose to relocate and informed us of the changes that were happening - transitioning to Iberostar...need I say more??? These people salvaged our vacation and then some! The resort was immaculate, food and beverage quality very good with food at the proper temperatures, etc. and the staff couldn't do enough for us. They made sure that we were well taken care of..nightly turn down service, excellent houskeeping, lots of bottled water, etc. the bartenders were fun and and very accommodating to our requests for mimosas at breakfast, etc.etc. Because there is ongoing construction with only half the resort currently operational, there were only 100-150 guests, but everyone we spoke with was pleased with everything at this resort - except maybe a few of the younger guests who were looking for more night life. We had excellent service at all the restaurants and bars...Returned from this beautiful resort two weeks ago. We had excellent service at all the restaurants and bars that were open and had many conversations with the F&B manager and other staff about the direction the resort was taking...all heading the right way. The construction was never disruptive or disturbing...not sure when the work was being carried out! The beach was fabulous and the pool areas were great. We had a couple of windy days which we spent at the adult only pool...very peaceful - perfect for relaxing. This resort does not yet have in-room coffee-makers or facecloths. The internet was very reasonable - 6 CUC for one hour and was quite acceptable by Cuban standards. There was entertainment in the lobby each evening which was quite enjoyable...of course, lots of CD's for sale. I can't comment on the show which took place every night at 9:30 because we were usually done in after a full day of sun, fresh air and swimming in the clear, turquoise ocean or the relaxing pool. I would definitely recommend this resort....probably the 11th or 12th I've been to in the Caribbean. Great job everyone...keep it up...there's no way you should be rated the 4th resort here...best of luck and thank you!More
