What else is there to say that hasnt already been said from other reviews?! This place is awesome. The beach is enormous. Very soft white sand, crystal clear water. When we were there it was a sunny day and the water was really calm and warm!
We flew there with air flamenco. $88/round trip per person. I read too many negative reviews about the ferry...I wasnt about to ruin my day dealing with that mess. We flew out of Cieba airport in fajardo at 7:30am and we were on the beach before 8;15am. Its a 15 min flight. Its scenic too which was a plus. Once you exit the tiny airport...there will be cabs you can hop in and they'll take you to flamenco beach. Its only like a 3 minute drive. It costs $4/person one way.
When you arrive at the beach you can rent chairs/umbrellas. Everything is $5/each. There are a couple places to get food/drinks. Everything we had tasted good. We also brought a cooler filled with beer/water and snacks. Alcohol is allowed on all beaches in PR as far as I know.
Looking out to the water the best snorkeling is on the far right side. You can set up the chairs/umbrella close to where you come in...then walk to where you snorkel. It looks like a far walk but its not bad. Stop being lazy and get a little bit of exercise. Snorkeling was pretty good. Not a ton of fish but a lot of brain coral and sea fans which were really cool.
The tank is on the other side of the beach (to the left looking out to the water.) Yep, theres more walking involved...oh the horror.
I havent been to any other Caribbean beaches before but have been to a bunch on different Hawaiian islands...my wife has also been to the Hawaiian beaches and some really nice beaches in Australia...and we both agreed that flamenco beach was all around the best beach either of us have ever been to. I couldnt get over how clear the water was.
If you're headed to PR do not miss this beach. The beaches on the main island are nice...but nothing compared to this place.
For those who gave negative reviews...chances are they had a bad experience with the ferry. Fork out some extra money and fly there. You'll have a couple extra hours at the beach instead of lining up for the ferry hours before it opens, then dealing with the ferry making its way to the beach. No thanks.
Oh and for the airport...you can literally arrive 10 min before you fly out so there is very little waiting around.
