This place is really in a good location, literally in front of Culebra's best beach: Flamenco. On the other hand, we stayed at Villa #10, and are a little bit run-down. The microwave had rust in the door; the room’s needs some improvements, and we have to clean by us the A/C filters, because were literally black (full of dust). The fridge and oven were clean and in good condition. The front desk lady was not so friendly when we arrived and ask for the villa, but we ignore her. Besides that, the beach is really beautiful. It's better than decide go camping, but less than average if you compare it with a typical hotel room. The villas have great potential, but lacks good management that monitors how clean the villas are, and when to perform some simple improvements.

Room Tip: Inspect the villa before accept the room key, in case you need to move to another villa in the same...

I think this place has a lot of potential if they had better management. There is really nobody to make sure that the guess are welcome. The "gazebo" used to be a bar where refresments were sold and now is nothing. There is nothing better than laying on the beach with a piña colada and not having to cook your own food during vacation. It was nice to see that the place was painted and remodel since the last time I stayed but really for the price you should have more service.

Flamenco Beach is awsome and the villas are right on the beach. Walk a half mile down the beach to the public area and there are food kiosks with good cheap food & drink. Snorkeling at Flamenco Beach is OK but tends to be a little murky if the waves are up. Much better snorkeling at other beaches: the best we went to are Carlos Rosario Beach, Melones and Tamarindo Grande Beach. Carlos Rosario was the best of the best. To get there you climb over the Warning-Keep Out sign at the public Flamenco Beach parking lot and hike a strenuous trail about a mile (two cops having lunch at the kiosks watched us climb through the gate on our return and we walked right past them without a word). I'd say snorkeling at all of these were on par with Belize, Roatan, or St. John USVI as far as water clarity, coral and fish.

We stayed in unit 1D, a ground floor 2 BDR unit with outside deck and beach view. It was OK since we didn't spend much time actually in it. Accomodiations were adequate and the AC & fridge worked well. The unit was acceptabally clean but it's showing wear & tear. Culebra Beach Villas are a collection of ground floor duplex-type detached villas and a 4 story condo-type building. Unit 1D is in the condo building. Each unit is individually owned so accomodations will probably vary. Bring bug spray, there are flies and biting no-see'ums when the breeze dies down (along with the numerous cats and chickens). This unit has a Suicide Shower. I've seen these on the Travel Channel but this is the first time I've seen one in person. Basically a Suicide Shower is a shower head that heats cold water inside the head with an electric heating coil. This means your shower head has a electrical cord that is plugged into a wall receptacle. Interesting, I would'nt touch it while the shower is running.

We stayed 3 nights during Palm Sunday week, NOT a good idea! Flamenco Beach is a fabulous beach and these villas are right near the water, several even had an ocean view. The unit we stayed in (Apt 1C) was called a studio, but really had a separate bedroom, bath and eat-in kitchen. There was a great front porch with hammock, swing and table/chairs. The unit was very close to the office, so this was a noisy and busy place. The bedroom had a king sized bed and it was very comfy, there two night stands, a tv (with Dish), a small drawer unit and a short closet area the bath had a shower, sink and toilet, but plenty of room to move around in. The kitchen had a sink, micro, stove top and fridge. It was not very well stocked--only two bowls, 2 spoons, 2 forks, 2 plates, 2 glasses. There were quite a few pots and pans but everything was VERY old and the whole unit needed an upgrade--it was musty smelling even with the wall unit air conditioner and dehumidifier. The newest thing in the place was the faucet in the bathroom. The office people were rude and acted as if we were bothering them anytime we went in to the office--to request new towels, to buy ice. We had to turn in the old towels to get new ones and we were just given 2 bath towels and one washcloth--I asked for another bath towel and they gave it to me, but didn't seem to want to--really don't most woman use one towel for their body and one for their hair?? we even got a hand towel the second time around, but the next day we did not get back to the office until after they closed, so had no new towels for that night. The people upstairs were clomping around until well after 3 am every night and we could hear every move they made so sleep was impossible. If you go, don't go when it is the local's holiday time. I would ask for an updated place--there were lots of different villas some small. some big--the location was absolutely perfect--this beach is the best we have ever been to and we have visited a lot of beaches. We were only in the villa for evenings to sleep but for the price we paid I had expected a more modern well kept up space. I would give the locale a 5 and the villa a 2.

Room Tip: Don't stay in one with another unit above it--these are not insulated and sounds travel. I woul...

OH MY GOSH!! A person could not get any better on Culebra Island than this absolutely lovely home. We stayed in 2B. I am honored but also hesitant to write this review…would like to keep this gem to ourselves, but I feel it is important to write about the wonderful stay we had! We were already on the island, staying in another property in town but decided to stay longer in this lovely little island and found this property on VRBO. This home is right on the gorgeous Flamenco beach...literally steps away and no obstructed views. The owners told us it is nine stairs up to the condo and they are absolutely right! This is a 4 story main complex surrounded by one story villas/casitas. It is also the only complex on Flamenco Beach (just voted #3 best beach in the world by Trip Advisor members). However, the only unobstructed views to the beach belong only to those units in the front of the main building. In our opinion, given the stair situation, the views and the condition of the home, This condo is the best.

The furnishings in the living room are verrry comfortable-with a nice ceiling fan. Really liked the creativity in regard to making a “enclosed 2nd bedroom” by using black curtains for privacy. Although we did not use it for a 2nd bedroom, we opened the curtains and could relax while watching TV in the living room. The entire home had Mexican tile which was very easy to maintain with the sand right outside!

The kitchen had Teflon pots and pans; plates and all the silverware/ cooking utensils/ microwave needed. A couple of small suggestions: 1) is the coffee maker. It was about a 2 cup maker and a larger maker would have been more efficient for our use. 2) the plates –it is a very nice set but they are a little heavy and can chip/break against the stone countertop. Nice plastic plates and plastic serving trays would have been easier to maneuver from the grills downstairs.

The bathroom was fine. A lovely tiled “hot shower”-no bathtub-which we did not miss. The bedroom has a safe for valuables, but we did not use it. Also has ceiling fan in the main bedroom and the “curtain enclosed” bedroom.

There is an office on property which closes at 5 or 5:30pm. We did not need them for anything. When we checked in, they gave us 2 beach towels. They also allowed us to store our groceries in their refrigerator while the condo was getting ready. Town is some distance away, so definitely rent a gulf cart-but there are kiosks at the beach with food/ drinks. Wifi does not reach the condo-you have to go to the office to get a good signal. Satellite TV-but office told us it was having problems--got some channels-I didn't care-my spouse did.

The VERY BEST part of this home is the wrap around porch! It was incredible. The tables and chairs were sooo comfortable, toward the end of our visit, we literally hardly moved from the porch. We watched charter boats pull up to snorkel and here we were…right on the beach able to just walk out and snorkel to our hearts’ content! What an absolutely lovely vacation.

Room Tip: 2B and 2C have the fewest stairs and face beach front.

This collection of Beach Houses is literally steps from the Flamenco beach. And Flamenco beach is reason alone to schlep oneself from anywhere in the states. :) For this reason alone, its worth the 5 stars.

Each of the units are very practical, clean units. Your mileage will vary regarding the furnishings and such. My group had taken 2 units and the one off the parking lot seemed newer and nicer. But, we barely spent any time *in* the units - why would you, when u got a top-rated beach steps away!

Make sure you take a walk in the night and enjoy the stars!

I have been to this complex four times, and plan on going again in 2015. I am an island lover, and this is my new favorite. I have been to 26 different islands in the Pacific and Caribbean. Flamenco Beach is one of the best I've seen. The island is a dream---no traffic, safe, and beautiful. There are not many like this left in the world that are easy to get to. The accommodations are a bit rustic, but to stay on a beach like this in a high end accommodation, you will be paying $800.00 per night and more. This is best described in another review as 'luxury camping'. However, the bedrooms have a/c, there is a kitchen to cook meals [saves $$$], and you have hot showers. You can bring your own sheets for a bit more 'luxury' if you want. I much prefer the front units in the main building, so you can sit on your veranda and take in the fabulous views of the beach. Beware, my sister stayed in a villa in the back and you could not flush your poop down the toilet. THAT would be a bit too rustic for me, personally, But she did not seem to mind. I have been to some $$$ islands, but for the money, you can't beat this. Beware that this is really a 'beach bums' vacation. There is no fancy shopping or gambling. There are some good restaurants [Suzy's]. They are not fancy, but the food was fabulous. We hired Peri from The Homeless Dog Café to provide chef services for our appetizers and dinners for several of the nights we were there. It was FABULOUS!!! And no driving!!! This is ALL about the beach. how much time do you spend inside anyway???

Room Tip: 2A and 2B are the most beach front, 28 steps to the beach. 2B is the nicer of the two. 4A and 4B hav...
