“lower apartment Casa Mango”

The kitchen was adequate compared to other places we have stayed. Nice hot water from the shower and the a/c was great! The only thing I would fix would be the rooms especially the beds that are uncomfortable, their general appearance and the sheets smell like humidity. Basically its a place to take care of the basics that you need. Buy Citronella since there are a lot of mosquitos inside and outside in the patio area where the bbq is. Due to this I recommend that they change the windows and door screens so that mosquitos don't get in as easily as they do now.

A walk in rental that paid cash over Memorial Day Weekend. Mosquitos enter when the door is left open or get between the door & the screen door. The citronella candle scorched the wall. Good renters on short notice. Culebra is a Caribbean Tropical Island, expect mosquitos, wear repellent, light colored clothes & go to Flamenco Beach.

We stayed the last 3 weeks of February --our second stay in Casa Mango Down. It has all of the basics that we need -- WiFi, kitchen/cooking, reasonable water for shower, TV, W/D, space. The caretakers Juan and Christina Rios are wonderful people -- and very attentive the few times things didn't work. In a central location -- residential neighborhood -- a few minutes from town and a few minutes to beach. You get used to the occasional barking dog. And only $100 per night. It is not perfect, but meets our needs better than other places we have stayed in Culebra (including Flamenco Villas). The main missing element is aesthetics -- but we get that when we go to the beach, to town, drive around, etc. We like having the extra bedroom to keep our stuff. It is nice to have the patio The biggest issue for us (my wife just had spine surgery) was the relatively steep steps going down to the apartment -- but Juan intends to address that soon in a fairly simple manner.

David W. says it all. A repeat customer as are the Casa Mango up renters who have returned for 5 visits. We plan to add new steps to the stairs to reduce the height. Aesthetics can be found @ Flamenco Beach Villas for $270/ night vs $100/ night. The review is for a beach house & renters come for the sea,sun & sky of the enchanted Caribbean island of Culebra. Please contact me to reserve Casa Mango up or down @ 515-490-7725. Dr. Brewbaker

“Great value in paradise!!”

Casa Mango Lower was perfect for our family! Cheap and a great location. Just a few minutes walk to all of Culebra's amenities but off the beaten path enough for peace and quiet. Juan the caretaker was very knowledgeable and helped to point us in the right direction several times. The patio was a great private place for us to relax after our long days of exploring paradise. Also we arrived a day earlier and Dr. Brewbaker and the staff was still able to accommodate
us. We would definitely recommend this to travelers who prefer to explore on there own and that are interested in a cheap amazing vacation.

“Received by care takers of home was horrible. We're treated with no respect at all.”

Upon arrival to rental property we immediately realized that this was not the property that we thought it would be according to the pictures. Lady immediately kicked us out because it was not 4pm although we were told by owner that we can leave belongings. We are felt disrespected by both lady and man that were in charge of property. Male seemed to be drunk during both instances we spoke to him. We had to park rental car in the street because there was a car occupying the space. The downstairs apartment was had no privacy since the couple in charge lived rift behind, with a dog and all the odor, which meant we could not BBQ. Bathrooms smelled like urine. Overall the property was not worth what we paid for. I would not nor the group recommend this property at all.

The party arrived at noon as the up 3 bedroom was being cleaned in a "back to back". Check in is 4:00 P.M. but I allowed the group to enter the down until the up was cleaned after rental. My 1st saying is "No good deed goes unpunished". No one was kicked out but the party was allowed to enter the down 2 bedroom. I do not own the street in front of Casa Mango but there is parking in both directions in this residential neighborhood. I take offense at the slander of the caretaker that he was drunk. The caretaker is a policeman and a Pentecostal preacher that does not drink alcohol. How slander is in the guidelines for a review is beyond comprehension. My 2nd saying is, "If you argue with a fool, you cannot tell who the fool is". I am not arguing.
