Came to Palmetto with my parents, two kids, and wife. The owners are very engaging people who really try to make you feel at home. Like others have said the coffee and scones in the morning is a great touch. The rooms are small, but you will be outside all day enjoying the island. Its a comfortable place to stay and very clean. We will definitely recommend Palmetto and thanks Susan and Paul for a nice stay.

On our second trip to Culebra, we were a little nervous to find out that Palmetto was under new ownership. There was no reason to be. Our room was small but tidy, the new owners very helpful, and our vacation magnificent. Susan had great tips for dining and snorkeling and let us borrow fins. The fresh coffee and scones every morning were more than welcome. Other than that it was up to us to enjoy paradise.... and we did!

We had high hopes when our group booked this guesthouse, however we left feeling rather disappointed.

On the good side: the location is fine. We walked to town, walked to the small grocery store, and walked to the corner where we caught the vans going back and forth to Flamenco Beach. My children's room was nice, and the other rooms our group slept in were fine as well.

On the other side: our room was tiny, with not enough room to lay out our 2 suitcases. The common area is also quite small and not air conditioned. Our group had hoped to be able to spend time together relaxing at the guesthouse, but couldn't due to lack of space and hot temperatures. We did the boat trip to Culebrita (which is lovely), which in retrospect seemed overpriced. There were other aspects of the boat trip that made us feel uncomfortable.

If we were to do it again, we'd try to rent a nice house, suck it up and rent cars, and enjoy the island that way.

Thank you for such a frank, if rather tetchy and incorrect re-review. Also, being as your first review was illegal in description, and content., you still found it necessary to write your diatribe. We are actually quite shocked at how you have denigrated our wonderful establishment,. But, we are not surprised at your denigration and your particular attitude. So, you have nothing good whatsoever to say about our establishment, let me just trawl through your commentary and respond to it in a positive way, rather than with total negativity, which is what you 100% displayed.
Your party was 10 adults and children, you booked 4 rooms of our 6 available. We felt that you would be cramped in such a condition, and, as we had another room available, we comped you another room for "FREE" an $600.00 value, in order to ease your situation. We could have rented that room several times during your stay. Thank you for your graciousness in NOT mentioning that.. Your room was not tiny, a queen bedroom, in fact it had a huge en-suite bathroom, with ample space to put suitcases. Our communal area is not small, it has a 5 person sofa, 2 other arm chairs and a complementary "free" computer and monitor. In fact all of our establishment has "free" 8 MEG WIFI (the fastest on the island), also a TV/DVD/Video console with a huge stack of titles, add to that a huge collection of "free" books. No, it is not air conditioned but, no places on Culebra are in communal spaces. We are not a HILTON, instead we focus on making our bedrooms comfortable with "killer" a/c and ceiling fans. Our back garden is extensive and has plenty of relaxing room amongst our beautiful tropical plants. You complain of hot temperatures, do you think we at Palmetto Guesthouse can moderate the seasonal temperatures, if June is too hot for you, I suggest perhaps December through March may be better for you. You denigrate the yacht adventure we gave you as overpriced ???? You paid $750 to exclusively rent a 42 foot yacht with Captain, and crew totally catered for from 9 AM to 6 PM with constant attention, snorkeling, dinghy trips and drink. Clearly you have no idea, in the USVI's you'd have paid in excess of $2500.00 for the same experience. Your family got a fantastic bargain, and you still found it your your heart to malign the Captain, despite the fact everyone had a grand day out, and you did not even tip for my crew not even 5 cents, shame on you ! We catered for you, your husbands and children in an exemplary way ! Free snorkeling gear, free coolers, free beach chairs ad infinitum ."We" also do wish that YOU had rented a house, and not been so cheap as to not realize that on Culebra vehicles "ARE" necessary. Despite that, WE picked you up from the ferry terminal, and brought you back there on your departure. That you could not find anything good to say about our business, but intentionally attempt to denigrate us, is a reflection of who you are. We will always continue to provide a totally superior service to our guests. Because, WE care about each and every one of them, as 99% of our ratings show. We strive to give them the utmost respect and regard in each and every case. And, to make OUR Guesthouse spotlessly clean, friendly, informative and we consider that we are the best Guesthouse on the Island of Culebra.

- Location: walking or biking distance from ferry and town; even closer to airport
- Nice, clean room
- Beach towels and snorkeling gear free to borrow

- Wonderfully accommodating and knowledgeable hosts

We would stay at the Palmetto again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room located outside the main house, which made it feel like its own little apartme...

We stayed at Palmetto during the third week of June. Susan picked us up from the ferry terminal and gave us a tour of the town, as well as great tips on where to get different types of great food. The guesthouse was very nice- complete with two kitchens, pans and utensils you can use to cook, which will certainly save you a lot of money in Culebra. Susan and Paul (extremely nice couple) have a beautiful patio with exotic plants where we often went to read or just relax. The guesthouse includes a living room, and feels as if you are staying at a good friend's house. Our room (as all rooms do) came with our own bathroom and shower, refrigerator, and free high speed internet. Susan makes some excellent scones every morning with coffee for her guests. I highly recommend this guesthouse.

Palmetto Guesthouse is really an excellent place to stay. Is at walking distance of the center of culebra. The owners are very friendly and help with anything they can. Accommodations are not fancy, but unless you want to stay in a remote part of the island, there is no fancy accommodations.

definitively recommended.

Was there for New Year's Eve, and Paul and Susan took care of us since every restaurant was closed! They are super nice people, great hosts with cool dogs. I think the rooms are adequate, but I'm not a fan of guesthouses. I would returm to the Palmetto Guesthouse, because of the great service.Scott
