My partner booked this for our 2nd year anniversary, great to get away for one night a little expensive but most places in the hunter are min two night stay, we arrived 3 hours before check in, but they were happy to show us to our room. we went out for lunch and came back to do some wine tasting, that was very nice, we took the wine back to our room and relaxed with an amazing view, we also took a little walk around the winery.
Dinner was also very nice the waiter was very friendly aswell as all the staff
This place felt very carm, relaxed there are only 6 or so villas so you can roam the place freely its a great little get away out of sydney would go back again.

Ok im not good at these. but hey here goes, I stumbled upon these guys by chance as it had a spa in the room and that was one of the requirements set by my fiancee ( Now Wife ) for our honeymoon and it had to be in the hunter valley, from the minute we got there to the minute we left we were treated like we were there #1 Customers ( This is what i expect coming from a customer service background, The rooms were cosy and what was needed , The Tranquility was perfect ( great views and So quiet ) The Staff were top tier. The only complaint i have is the misses is now addicted to there port.. The food was unbeliveable the Chef ( jose ) was the cream of the crop ( lol attempted humour ) every meal was perfect. I would recommend this place to everyone from a Honeymoon to a Week stay to even a travelling worker. I would mension all the staff by name but that would be a little strange but all staff including cleaners were ultra professional and ultra nice.

Room Tip: See if you can get the Chiraz room.

The villas were luxurious with a beautiful period decor. We also booked at the restaurant. The food here was exceptionally good. Unexpected and on par with some of the best restaurants in Australia!!! The service by the young waitress was exceptionally poor. Making us feel like we were a total inconvience being there. So much potential as a flagship fine restaurant in the Hunter.

This is on a working winery so perhaps we should have expected the tractor driving around outside the villa in the morning.

We went with friends. 2 rooms at 320 per night. $640 each. You will find much better in the Hunter for a lot less. I am happy to pay this price when it's good. This place isn't.
Arrogant owners and dishonest.
Not only was it not up to the standards but the owners did not honor their written agreement. Stayed Friday and Saturday night anf booking slip clearly stated hot breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning. Was told for Saturday there was a continental breakfast in fridge. What a sad joke it was. Two white pieces of stale bread, one cheap pkt of muesli, one of nutrigrain, one small bottle of orange juice, one of apple juice and that was it. When asked about it was told the paper in my hand was wrong. End of story. Breakfast Sunday only, which was a set menu. Only choice u got was how you wanted your eggs. Saturday we travelled 60 ks for breakfast that cost us another $80
Fit out of the rooms was cheaply done and even the TV was some dated difficult to use elcheapo. Only thing in its favor was that it was clean.
Avoid at all cost.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere if you want a good Hunter experience

After my boyfriend suprised me for our two year anniversary by taking me to the hunter, we checked in at Nightingale.... When we arrived they couldn't find our booking but eventually got a key to the "sparkling room" (key ring had the word reception written on it and yes they had rennovated the reception into an extra room). Needless to say it was not like the other luxury villas but instead was situated on the communal pool deck with 3 singles beds after booking a double bed. When questioned the lady (who ended up being the owner) told us we should have told her and to push the beds together ourselves (told her?! I think it may of said it on the missing booking)! We decided to let it slide and look forward to our dinner booking.

They were having a special "italian" night with the menu adjusted accordingly. When we arrived we were told that instead of being able to choose from the menu we had only 3 choices for mains... including an over priced seafood platter for two ( $60 per head for chips, calamari and tiny bit of lobster)...

The checkout was also less than smooth...after handing over the key at reception and driving to the top of the driveway, the owner chased us and told us to come in becasue we had not paid (even though we had a receipt saying we had- apparently paid doesn't mean they take the money of your card in their world)... So we could leave quickly we paid again... then as we were driving to the top of the driveway again they chased us again as they had found our booking which said we had paid in full! So again we had to drive back and get a refund...

I do not recommend anyone stays here.... I came away feeling taken advantage of and upset that our anniversary was not at all what we planned...

We stumbled upon this little gem in Broke, Hunter Valley last weekend, my parents and I. I saw a driveway that I had a feeling would lead to something interesting so we went in for a look. The charm was immediate. A family of 7 adults were pouring out into there transport grinning from ear to ear after what they described as the best meals they had on their trip. I was sold on the food. We were warmly greeted by Paul and Gail, the proud proprieters of this hidden treasure. After a quick tour, we had our bags out of the car and we were resting in the luxurious lodgings, feet up watching the Olympics on the flat screen resting before what was to be an amazing food and wine experience. The menu was a key indicator... cleverly orchestrated with signature additions, it was obvious there was a genius lurking in the background.. The staff were amazingly (genuinely) lovely... We were all on first name basis straight away. The junior chef, oozing talent, was brought out to take a proverbial bow at the end as we polished off the rest of the Verdelho. (consequently, tried the Wyndham Verdelho - same region - the next day, no comparison) adding strength to the argument that mass produced wines lose the love and therefor the flavour.
I told Paul & Gail that I would write this review and to look out for it. I hope that it brings some enjoyable guests your way. Thank you very much for everything and I am sure I'll be back when Sydney life gets too hectic! See ye soon..
