“Play with the koalas and feed the kangaroos”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

One of the best wildlife parks I've been to. Some of these animals are literally running around the park like the kangaroos and you can feed them. My favorite has to be the koalas where you are allowed to pet them. They are constantly sleeping and curled up against a tree. You'll see other animals like emus, dingos, Tasmanian devils, wombats, wallabies, reptiles, and the list goes on and on. The staff is super friendly so ask them any questions. Great for families!

“Hmmmmm....”
Reviewed 22 November 2013

Stopped here on a tour back from Blue Mountains. I was showing a UK visitor round Oz and she had arranged this part of our trip. From a visitor point of view (especially overseas) I guess it was fine...theres certain interaction with "exotic" animals and lots of delightful noises when seeing previously unseen Australian animals. My visitor hadnt seen a wombat before or a tawny frogmouth......then we got to the large flight birds, eagles, hawks etc...and realised that these birds would never have the chance of spreading their wings and flying the many miles they do in the wild. They are confined to their enclosures forever. My visitor asked why the alligators head was a different colour to it's body...we could only think that it was because it was in such a little pool it was probably sunburnt! We left in a somewhat thoughtful frame of mind.......this place was nice for the humans....perhaps not so nice for the animals. :(

Hi Roxett2, Thank you for your review and I apologise that you didn't fully enjoy your visit to Featherdale. I thought I would clarify a couple of points with the hopes of easing your mind. Whilst our raptors must be kept in aviaries, we do ensure enclosures conform to strict animal welfare standards, providing enrichment as well as ample space for them to fly within the enclosure. Ngukurr, our Saltwater Crocodile can often be found sunbaking on the sandy bank within his enclosure or swimming in one of his two pools. There is plenty of shade within his enclosure and the deeper pool provides ample depth to allow him to fully submerge and swim around. All of our animals are cared for by a dedicated team of experienced keepers and their welfare is always at the top of our priority. We always welcome feedback and thank you once again for the time you've taken to provide a review.

“Terrific attraction”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

This "wildlife park" started as an animal rescue and retains the pleasant uncommercialized appeal of a first rate animal park showcasing native Australian animals and birds in a very well done natural habitat and free roaming environment.
From the exotic animals to the cute cuddy Koalas that are there for you to pat and scratch and have your pictures taken (free no less), all the animals and birds of Australia are there to see.

Much better than the other zoos and cheaper too, if you are already paying for the Blue Mountain excursion. Even not, I would recommend this place is even worth a special trip from Sydney.

“Great time at Featherdale”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

For a tourist on a first time visit from the UK, this was a great place to spend the afternoon (or morning - or all day!). Petted a Koala, fed 'roos and Wallabies. Saw our first ever real life Tasmanian Devil. Friendly staff. Can't fault it. We have very grown up children, but if you have littler children, then you must take them. In a place where attractions seem to cost a fortune to visit, this is good value. What's more, the little cafe is reasonably priced and well stocked. Thanks to our Aussie family for taking the time to see it with us. I had to tick 'friends' as there is no box for family with no children!!!!!

Hi Verian, Its great to see that you enjoyed your visit. We aim to make Featherdale an enjoyable, up close wildlife experience for both young and old alike. Often we see the adults walking around collecting stamps at each designated animal enclosure to complete their animal stamp rally. Animals certainly tend to bring out the 'kid' in all of us. Thanks for sharing your visit!

We visited here whilst in Sydney and had a great day.
It's good getting so close to the animals and the staff are very informative and friendly!
I'd definitely recommend paying it a visit and if you have kids they'll love it.
