“Great again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2013

We have been before & had such a lovely holiday. This time we went to celebrate a birthday
with friends & all stayed in Jindalee & celebrated the birthday in the restaurant. Fantastic food
& lovely staff made it a night to remember. So close to Sydney but so relaxing & away from it all.
Our friends were all impressed & had a fantastic weekend.

We stayed Friday/Saturday nights in Collina a lovely spacious 4 bedroom house. Its well set up for 8 ladies with 4 bathrooms and a large verandah to relax on and a even a spa under the stars. We would have appreciated a cleaner through before we arrived. The large scenic windows were dirty and there was a layer of dust on the furniture and the bathrooms were not very clean. We did thoroughly enjoy sitting on the verandah enjoying the peace and view and the spa was clean and working.
The Girls Wanna Have Fun package looked ok on paper but was poor value. Unfortunately food is often the first thing we think about and for the money we paid, the resort was unnecessarily skimpy when it came to catering. First sign was the small half glass of sparkling wine that was The Champagne Welcome.
Dinner in the restaurant could have been a lovely evening had there been more staff. the waitresses were friendly and did their best but the place was so understaffed. We were stuck way out the back on the enclosed verandah, far from the atmosphere and music of the main room, and also far from the attention of the staff and owner. A two hour wait for entrees was not acceptable and when we asked for complimentary bread as we were starving and drinking our wine on empty stomachs, we were told No. The food itself was tasty and of sufficient serving size. Shame one of the six steaks meals ordered had off meat and the owner, who finally made an appearance at our table at 10pm, did not offer to refund or replace it.She preferred to deny it was off and grudgingly served a bottle of wine with our dessert to "make us happy".
The buffet breakfasts were basic but adequate and once again we had to ask for refills. eg the juice was refilled with unrefrigerated UHT juice.
The picnic basket was ok for 8 five year olds and consisted of 8 gladwrap bound white sandwiches,8 oranges and 8 unrefrigerated very small size "poppers". We even recognised some fillings from last night's dinner menu.
Pizza night was ordinary too with lots of salty tomato paste and iceberg lettuce.
The half hour massages were enjoyed by all but having one masseuse using one room meant 20 minute massages.Again not good value.
We did enjoy our little drive around the resort in the buggies to enjoy the spectacular views and the swimming pool was clean and refreshing.
All in all we had a relaxing getaway with good company and views but take your own gourmet food and you will still save a fortune.

This review was submitted by one of the same party that submitted the review immediately below. We did not challenge the misinformation contained in the previous review such as how long to receive their entree after their order of breads or to mention that they arrived half an hour late for their booking or that only one of the party was not satisfied with the very top grade cryovaced Black Angus Eye Fillet steaks that they all ordered. Nor did I make any mention that the word "gourmet" was never suggested for the "snack lunck box" especially after a massive breakfast choice. Our chef is vastly experienced and there has been nothing but praise for the quality of food delivered including from guests and our group who dined in the bistro the same evening as they did. Please read our response to the immediate previous review for balance and consider the new criticisms raised in this review that her associate didnot raise before nor was any mention made to Reception at any time regarding the quality and cleanliness of the deluxe spa lodge this group stayed in. Finally reasonable consideration must be given to the great value provided in this package which has satisfied the vast majority of guests who have taken advantage of this experience over many years.

This was our second visit to the resort. We did the girls just want to have fun package. Our lodge was great and we were isolated so we could make noise and not bother anyone else. All our meals were included and that is where we were disappointed. The menu was limited and we waited over two hrs to get our entree. The staff were very friendly but they needed more staff. One of our main meals was sent back as it was off and the owner wanted to dispute this, however they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. We found the breakfast to be adequate but not outstanding and our gourmet lunch looked more like a school lunchbox with a juice popper, an orange and one sandwich per person wrapped in glad wrap. Pretty funny actually, lucky we packed some gourmet food of our own. However we all thoroughly enjoyed our massage and had a great time in the golf buggies. It was certainly a beautiful place , just a shame that the food let it down a bit. Would advise anyone going to self cater and then they will have a great time.

This was our third visit here after many years, and chose the 2 night Romance package for my husband's birthday. Main attraction to return was the stunning elevated mountaintop location with incredible views! Yes, you have to traverse a very narrow winding mountain road to get there, it is tarred, you just have to be careful re bends and the cows at the bottom of the mountain, signs to this effect for out of towners would be helpful, but as we are local to the area, we had no problem finding turnoffs and are aware of giving way to unexpected local cows crossing the road!.

Most lodges are country style/rustic and since we were last there noted the overall standard of some fittings and decor getting a bit tired. If self catering, which we did most of the time, as restaurant is only opened limited hours and days.... utensils scarce and some needed replacing in our lodge. Overall our lodge "Silkwood" was comfortable, but would have liked some recliner lounges for the deck and table near the spa to place our drinks and nibbles, spa robes would have been great too!
The hot breakfast, as another reviewer mentioned is sometimes a 'cook it yourself' deal. I take on board the logistics of not running the restaurant when only limited guests, and the hamper we were given was much different to the one mentioned by the reviewer...perhaps note was made by management, as we had fresh uncracked eggs, masses of good quality bacon, sausages, yogurts, fresh fruit, juice, cereal.... and more... no complaints about the hamper.

It is advisable to take sufficient food to cater for yourself when the restaurant is closed, as not convenient to make the 10-15 minute, trek down the mountain then go into nearby Vacy or Paterson to 'pick something up'... unless you are going sight seeing for the day. I think eaglereach is suited to those who just want to get away, either together as a couple as we did, or with friends, to chillout and relax in a peaceful environment, sip champagne in the spa overlooking the vista, and just throw together an easy meal whenever it suits.

Families are catered for who want their kids outdoor, with lots of exploring, water and play area activity. As all lodges are configured differently, if you have certain requirements as family with kids or couples, or group of friends, best to check when booking what the lodges offer, as we found some are more suited to families, and others for couples.

Staff were friendly, special mention to Lee at Front desk - who went to great lengths at time of booking, and during our stay to make sure our stay was exactly what we wanted. As it was my husband's birthday, and it would have been difficult to bring and hide a cake, Lee organised a fresh surprise birthday cake for my husband at our dinner which was appreciated.

Due to restaurant mostly being closed, only had one dinner there, which was enjoyed by us and our guests for the evening. A shame the dinner menu was so limited choice of only 3 entrees, two seafood and one pate, and as being a non-seafood or pate eater, had no alternative for entree but garlic bread. Main meals -a couple more choices, but feel the menu needs improving. There is a lunch bistro menu which has more variety - when available. I would like to see the restaurant open on sundays, I think days open are too limited - particularly over the weekend.

Must mention as part of our package, had a massage with Therapist Tanya - Highly recommended experience.

Overall well worth visiting, the location definitely invokes a sense of calm - so much serenity!!!!

Room Tip: If you are keen on a particular view, check whether the lodge you are given has 'wilderness'...

My bf book this amazing place during the valentine weekend for our 3 years, half an hour away from destination we were quite worried wondering what we got ourselves into it was a real country escape passing a little town, poor signs, tiny one way roads and tight turns.
Even stopped to let cows pass.

We were greeted by wild kangaroos on a perfect day.
The service was average upon arrival.
"Rocky Mountain" was the name of our cottage and it wasn't modern but cute.
The back yard had a dozen of kangaroo's and the lookout was the best id ever seen, breath taking.

The food at the restaurant was very yummy, tasty and fresh.

Defiantly recommend.

Room Tip: "rocky mountain have the best views!

My wife and I had a weekend away in March 2013. One of the wettest weekends on record did not spoil the experience. The staff were friendly and relaxed and very helpfull. Some robes in the 'Spa Cabin' would have added to the experience, however, other than that nothing was a problem. The menu in the restaurant was limited, however, was of a good quality. All the breakfast you could eat. We were upgraded from a single room lodge to a larger lodge which was excellent. Very comfortable and the rain allowed the fire to be fired up which added to the romance of the weekend. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend with a glass of wine and a good book this is for you. When the clouds and fog cleared the views are spectacular. We were left alone in the room, however, a call for extra towels got

This weekend was booked as a present to us from the 27th - 29th of January, the Australia Day long weekend.
To start off the weather was horrible, pouring rain every second we were here, and we understand no one has control over this, but combined with all the problems we had here it made for a terrible holiday.

After driving half a day to get to the resort, which states it is on 'Summer Hill Road' we were surprised when we had to drive up the most unsafe road we have ever seen, there is no warning of this on the website.

Arriving at 2.30pm on a Sunday to be told we can book in for dinner from 6pm, we thought okay, just enough time to have lunch... Wrong, eagle reach doesn't cater for lunch, they only have lunch on Saturday! For a resort so out of the way from a main town, this should be pointed out when booking.

Arriving at our room, the Jindalee complex, once again surprised, the 'resort room' was smaller then a normal sized main bedroom, smelt like mould, dust covering all surfaces in the room, 2 king singles pushed together (not very comfortable), mould on the bathroom window, filthy cutlery and plates.
And the complex was closely shared with 5 other rooms, this was not stated upon booking.

Dinner at the bistro was way overpriced, and lacked choice in the menu, all entrees except one were seafood and mains didn't have much choice either. Now for 2 people that have allergies to fish and dust, not a great start to our time away.

We go to make a booking for dinner for our second night here, we are told the bistro will be closed, due to a public holiday, so we have to order takeaway and pick it up at lunch time to cook for dinner . Okay, look at the menu, overpriced, mainly seafood and pizza. So we chose pizza, 3 pizzas cost us $60, and we had to cook them ourselves!!

What resort closes on a public holiday!?! We expect normal hours no matter what day it is, we paid good money to come here!

And also no lunch will be available on the Monday! So in that sense we are actually lucky we have the pizzas to cook with wise we would of starved until dinner again, as we didn't have enough petrol to go anywhere and all petrol stations were closed because it was a Sunday/public holiday Monday, so we had no choice but to stay, as that's what we intended to do before we arrived here due to all the activities this resort has.

Breakfast on the Monday was great, can't fault the buffet breakfast.

On the Monday morning we had a breakfast hamper we had to pick up from the bistro for TUESDAYS breakfast, which consisted of 2 takeaway containers of pre cracked eggs that we were to microwave for 'scrambled eggs' ,bread to toast, yogurt in 2 takeaway containers and 2 mini ham and cheese croissants.
This is not acceptable compared to our first breakfast here! When we booked the room, the package said 'hot breakfast daily' this is not a hot breakfast, it's a health issue, not very safe, nor were we able to eat it.

On check out, we had filled out the feedback form stating everything I have just mentioned, and told the manager about it, she didn't seem to care and continued to check us out and send us on our way.

Since then, we have made a complaint with the resort, and we are still waiting to hear back from them.

So all in all, we had a horrible time, we can put aside the horrible weather and having to stay in our room the whole time we were here, but everything else is not acceptable, horrible service.

Unfortunately these folks were in the wrong place we are proudly a nature based resort on a mountaintop. Since opening near 20 years ago we have had tens of thousands of guests stay at the property and not one has ever had an accident on the sealed access road. Our signature image shows the mountaintop location. Guests actually make a booking for dinner and all details of the menus opening hours and take away options are on our website which they claim they visited. One night these guests choose takeaway 12" pizzas three in fact we also provide pizza ovens at no charge. The images and description of the resort room complex is shown on our website including the size of the rooms large enough to accommodate a king-size bed easily. And of course the Resort was opened on the public holiday. Finally they made no complaint to either Reception or the Bistro during their entire stay and only left a completed questionnaire which we responded to. Our website delivers the total picture on the property and thankfully the vast majority of guests over the years have enjoyed their stay.
