Seafront hotel was everything we had hoped for during our stay on Kangaroo Island. The best meal we had during our three night stay was the first evening when we dined in the bistro restaurant in the hotel. The fish and chips meal was really delicious and the whiting fillets are probably something not to be missed. The staff are friendly and helpful. We went to the honey farms, bought the oysters freshly chucked for us from America's Bay, and visited Admirals Arch and Seal Bay, all thoroughly worthwhile. I was surprised how large the island was and how much driving we had to do, so a car is essential. Our hotel threw in the ferry trip for our car and ourselves as part of our package. Our room had a lovely view over the ocean and it was clean and comfortable, really you can't ask for more. My big tip is that staying here gives you flexibility to explore, and we were really pleased we didn't fork out big bucks to stay at the Southern Ocean Lodge because it is in such a remote part of the island and not near the towns on the island. We both bought keyrings of fairy penguins at our check out, and it reminds me every day of my happy stay on Kangaroo Island.
PS Don't be put off walking down to Admiral's Arch, it is safe and it is not far and it is spectacular. Nothing can be more exciting than viewing the wildness of the ocean and the beauty of this spot. I tried to encourage others to keep going telling them they would miss out on a wonder of the world.

My partner and I were lucky enough to snare the last available room between Christmas and New Year. We were in a fully renovated, comfortable and modern room overlooking the sea. I can still picture the beautiful view. Hotel staff were unusually friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was standard. There's not much else in Penneshaw but I'd recommend this even if there was.

We chose KI for our Honeymoon as we love Australia and its natural environment. Next we chose the SEAFRONT. Richard and his team could not do enough to help us and to make our stay amazing. The view was one of a kind, we were in the ocean view rooms, and the sound of the penguins when you stood on the balcony was amazing. Our room was warn and very modern. The tour we went on, provided by the SEAFRONT, the very first day was just breathtaking. We got absolutely drenched in rain and laughed the whole time.
The food in both the restaurant and bistro was soooooo yummy. We recommend the Honeycomb ice-cream to all that eat here. We loved that everything we needed to see and do was only a couple of hours way tops or even closer.

Our Honeymoon was amazing not only because Kangaroo Island is so breathtaking but because the team at SEAFRONT made it so much fun and relaxing. Thanks Guys we will be coming back to celebrate our anniversary’s.

Firstly - Kangaroo Island is a must-see place. It is absolutely beautiful, clean, picturesque water, rugged, stunning!

We went to Kangaroo Island in June 2011, yes, it was COLD! but nothing you couldn't handle, i just took a big coat and scarf and boots and I was fine.

Pro's and Cons about Kangaroo Island Seafront Resort:
Pros:
I unfortunately couldnt afford an ocean view room and was disapointed as I really wanted to see this view, so we booked a Heritage Room and suprisingly when we arrived, we were placed on the second floor in room no 15, which was facing directly to the ocean! I was estatic, it was absolutely beautiful and the room had everything we needed and was very compfy.
We didnt hear any penguins at all, but that was becuase apparantly the penguins werent really coming out much around that season.
The staff were lovely and greeted us every time we arrived, they were very helpful and freindly. She was actually quite helpful with a coupld of tours we were thinking of doing.
It's very close to the ferry and the hertz rent a car place.
awesome room service and didnt take long at all to arrive.
Lovely rooms and worth the money and nice and dark at night to sleep.

Cons:
The restaurant is very expensive and they are small meals. They didnt cater to my partner and I, as we are more pub meal people. But i'm sure they were lovely. So we had to eat at the pub up the road - Penneshaw Hotel as this was more in our price range.
The only ther con would be the Mini Golf - it was ery run down and dirty and didnt look like it had been maintenanced in a long time, there leaves and dirt and branches everywhere. We still played and moved all of the out of the way and it was still fun, but just not very well kept.

Other than that, I can't really think of any other bad things about our stay. I read some of the reviews and i was scared about what I would be expecting, but I was pleasantly suprised, this place is lovely and well kept and comfortable.
Penneshaw is just beautiful, we finally did get to see a couple of penguins on the last night, we didnt do a tour as the penguins werent really coming out into sight, so we didn't waste our money, we just went for a walk around Penneshaw.

The car company was great, very helpful. they dont have many strict rules and were quite fair and affordable. You aren't insured to drive after sunset, which is a bit of a risk, they do let you drive, its just at your own risk as the car isnt covered at night.

There is not much in Penneshaw, this is the only resort in Penneshaw and only 200 200 ppl in Penneshaw. Its very small and quiet. One pizza shop, one fish and chip shop (which is closed for the whole winter) a pub, resort restaurant, a post office, chemist, IGA and thats pretty much it. So make sure, if you need anything during your trip to kead to Kingscote (the capital) to pick up supplies to take back to your resort. We did this on the first day, it takes about 1 1/2 hours to drive to Kingscote.

We loved it, absolutely beautiful and we miss it!

Tip: definitely dont miss out on seeing the Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, the Seal Bay tour, Vivonne Bay (picturesque) and do a bushwalk at Flinders National Park - was amazing!

Room Tip: ask for room 15 - heritage room with a view

Rooms reminded us of motel type accommodation although clean and comfortable. We were in an ocean view room on ground floor and heard penguins at night which was not all that bad. Restuarant was not at all good and staff are alike, but the remote location could be the reason for not being able to get good staff, most are locals I think.

Room Tip: Ocean view would probably be the pick.

Kangaroo Island was the highlight of our Easter Getaway and the staff and facilities at Seafront Resort really topped it off. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We spent 3 nights at the hotel and even though it was busy everywhere the staff in both reception and the restaurant always looked relaxed and happy. We dined in the restaurant on 2 nights and both times the food was delicious, fresh and hot. The service was great and waiters were always smiling and we never waited long between courses. The view from our room was breathtaking looking across the ocean and watching the ferries cross over from the mainland. The rooms were very clean and the bed so comfy I didn't want to get up but needed to as the Island is so big there is always something to see and do.
